The Hyundai INSTER sub-compact EV with 355km range will be officially released later this month. It was teased today and based on the CASPER ICE model available in some markets. Thoughts?
Just missing kettle and toaster. With all seats down one can live in this. Seriously, a lot of car for 20k. Can't wait to take one out for spin.
when i was in my 30's i was the proud owner of the granny-loving honda jazz, one of the greatest pieces of engineering ever to come out of japan. i couldn't give a rats ass who the insters primary target market is… the jones's next door can sneer all they like, there's a good chance i'll be getting one of these second hand in 3 years time 🤣
It has a 3 pin socket under the main dash so I guess you could plug them in 😊
Certain model Nissan Leafs have had similar since 2016 or so.
A great parking tool.
Got a call from the local dealer today - they said the car should be delivered mid January. Going to view the demo model this coming Wednesday as they'll have it in Limerick for one day.
Airside quoted 23,550 for the launch edition trim. that includes delivery charges and metallic paint.
A mate of mine was quoted 21k for the lowest trim which is 19k on the price list. Including all charges, and no metallic paint. 2k for delivery is nuts.
It's probably 1200 for delivery, 500 for gap insurance and 300 for lifeshine or something else like that.
Is there a radio in these yokes or do you have to use your phone?
do all the car company dealers add delivery charges etc? price quoted should be the final price for consumer.
Did he order it through the hyundai.ie website? It appears to be the only place to get it at the price advertised.
Yes, there's a Radio button on the dash.
I think this is optimistic, these aren't due to dock until January 20th. And then any customs clearance delays, the usual Revenue nonsense assigning stat codes and then delivery to dealer etc i'm not holding out hope of getting it before February.
Update.
Went to see the car today. For the price and range it's able to do it is a nice car. A bit small at the back I thought but otherwise I liked it.
Because I ordered black one, delivery will be towards the end of March. Some other colours would have been available in January but I am happy to wait. Despite when paying the deposit on the website and being shown 20,540eur for Black 42Kwh version, they told me no, it would be 19,945 incl all chargers. Well, we'll see but the website definitely showed me extra for Black paint when I paid the deposit.
The car has been ordered today so now we wait…
Is that in the Irish versions, i don’t see it mentioned, the UK website has an optional extra “Tech Pack”, which includes a 3 pin internal V2L socket.
missed one pedal driving, 360 camera
I reserved one online for 200e.. Atlas white base model 42kw, delivery in Jan. The dealer called and said they need another 800 to confirm the order. The total price is, 20240, including paint
Is the 360 camera available here? Thought it was only in the UK.
Great looking car and very good price point. But I would warn people off Hyundai (and by extension Kia) because of the lead time for replacement battery. I am waiting on a replacement Hyundai Kona battery (my 2nd replacement battery) and it is a 5 month lead time minimum with no replacement car. Anecdotally it’s between 6 and 9 months for an Ioniq 6 replacement battery
Was there any particular reason why the battery needed replacement? What kind of mileage were you doing?
Just got a text from the dealer - car will be delivered January (not March).
Inorder the black 49 battery but have a price of 22500? Jan 29th arrive in Ireland .
I'm driving electric nearly 8 years now( had the original ioniq 28 and now a Model 3) Just had a quick look at the Inster today( possibly to change our other car which is a Dacia sandero stepway).
I had been reading about it on forums/YouTube ect. Seems like a great little car, was very impressed. The amount of space inside for a small car is very impressive and even more so when the rear seats are slid back.
Took it for a short test drive and it was a very nice car to drive, not super soft like a Citroen but fine. Interior and specs seemed very good for the price, although no AC plug inside but realistically would probably never use it. Just checked the price for a Toyota Yaris for comparison....starting at 25000, you would want to be mad to pick something like that over this. (I know it's not a direct comparison!)
It's very well thought out car, at the current price point i recon it's one of the best out there
I have a 6km commute to work so I would say that my mileage/use is very normal. 40000 km in 2.5 years, vast majority of charging sessions from slow chargers. The fault occurred during a charging session (using a slow charger at work, one I had used multiple times previously). Came out from work with the new warning light on the dashboard, the car telling me that I had a 300 km range when, based on the length of charging and the visual guide to how charged the battery was, I would have expected approx 420km of range. Latest update from my service provider is that there is no update regarding delivery date for my battery.
Would it be realistic to have one of these without the ability to charge it at home? I mainly drive the little one to school and back, around town to the shops and occasionally over to the next town and back. Unfortunately I'm an end of terrace with no driveway.
So is the car driving at present?
What would your charging strategy be if not home charging? Generally public charging is pricey, so unless you have access to either or both of home and workplace charging it's unlikely to make sense.
I would love to know what sales figures are like at the moment. It's a lovely looking car at a very attractive price.
Any word on the NCAP rating? Very interested but if it's another Renault Zoe or Dacia Spring I'd give it a miss.
You need to do some research rather than gobbling up headlines so.
