Starting a thread for 2025 gigs as they'll likely start rolling in.
I'll arbitrarily throw in Rob Beckett playing the Olympia on the 26th September 2025 which went on sale today.
Oh nice one. Nice and handy location in Dublin. Surprised it's not used more often. Also a great booking for City Hall.
And also leisure land Galway on 23rd
mj lendermann is promoted by singular artists, so no Olympia shows ever on the cards but button factory/vicar always a possibility in the future. For waxahatchee looks like her june primavera/uk tour is a short and sweet run with no days spare.
Any chance of the Waxahatchee tour in Europe next year extending to Dublin? one of my regrets this year was missing her gig. Same for MJ Lendermann, wonder if he'll play next year - I know he was just in Workmans and Whelans but wonder if a trip to Olympia is on the cards - had ticket to Whelans but too ill to go
50 euro inc fees, his UK dates are £20-25, Paddy tax in operation.
Alex Warren's gig in the Olympia in March has been moved to the 3Arena
@Fanirish is that fontaines venue for summer possibly dalymount?
Could be teaser for another jersey they wore during tour also
Pierce the Veil playing the 3Arena in 2025, announcement due tomorrow. Will need to be a whopper of a support bill and decent ticket prices to pull a decent showing
The only time I’ve seen that low income thing on a gig listing in the last decade was for the Stendhal Fest in Limavady. In the era of gouging and dynamic pricing it’s reassuring to see that.
The Royal Festival Hall in London used to do a number of tickets at half-price for students or unemployed. Based on trust as there’s no checking. A lot of the stuff there is classical but you also have Meltdown every year and the odd great gig. It’s where the Mary Chain did their European comeback gig after Coachella, Bowie, Radiohead, Wilco, etc in the past two decades. Excellent venue with great acoustics. If only others could follow those examples.
Old is the new new... 😋
none. though I know people who went to it twice in vicar st. Happened to be going for two different birthday parties etc
I'm wondering how many people will go to all 23 gigs. Or even, say, 10 gigs.
The Belfast venue also moved to one of half capacity. I checked that gig last night. They had an option for "Low Income" tickets, almost half the price of a standard ticket (with no statement on any checks they'd make to see if you were actually unemployed etc.). Hadn't seen that added to a listing before - figured the sales were slow. Saw them the last time in The Empire and enjoyed it. Have a crush on the guitar player with the big hair. New album is a bit meh.
Let's just agree that we're the weirdos folks and be thankful for that.
Couldn't agree more. People should check themselves if they're really getting offended or put on edge by what is a fairly tame play on words.
…aye, that's a fair point. My wife truly wonders what I am at, a lot of the time, going to see these 'weird bands'! As do my kids, I'd wager! And my friends!
Fully agree with this. Someone said earlier that Mrs Browns Boys is for stupid people. Mrs Browns Boys is targeted at an audience who in large part have been left behind into he streaming world. Is it poor and unfunny, sure but if it gives 30min of laughter to certain folks then what the harm and doesn't make them stupid.
i thought i was after dreaming it as i could not find it online after hearing it on Today fm
She wouldn't be up my alley but I know plenty of all different demographics that pay to see her, it's lowest common denominator stuff, she's clearly a hit with a certain demographic if she can do 100's of shows and months of residencies,
For people who question why people go out and see her, the same people that see her are the same that question why some of us go out to metal shows and go in mosh pits etc, everyone has there own thing they are into
If people have a problem with McNally's tour name we really are f*cked. Nothing wrong with it. Besides, she might just be a fan of General Pinochet. You can decide what to be most outraged about. Mass murdering dictator or child molesters? She's just a wine enthusiast.
she is only popular in a few countries and only really popular here and the UK. So she has a ton of free nights available, theatre shows are easy to sell and handy money so why wouldn’t she do 30/40/50 nights in Dublin, continuously work on and improve the show. The arena shows in Dublin, Belfast and London can be the cherry on top after a year plus of the show.
Swell season doing 2 nights in the NCH.
Well it does impact acts doing European tours around same time, limits them playing Olympia and may not be another available sized venue. Would have thought as Zardoz points out would be easier for her to play a few 3Arena gigs rather than 23 odd and maybe more Olympia gigs.
panda bear button factory
yeah it’s panda bear
she will end up doing arena shows to end that tour in 2026 or 2027 when it finishes up. her 75 night run in vicar was more egregious but end of the day the venue need to be busy 300 nights plus a year to keep everyone employed so who cares if she takes it for 40, 50 or 60 nights. Other 200 plus nights a year for other shows. olympia went weeks if not months there without much on this year.
Surely 5 shows in the 3Arena would be more profitable and alot less work for her than 40 nights in the Olympia ?
Think whatever you think of McNally or comedy don't think it's great for same artist to take it over for 23 gigs. Think she'd be better off playing a few 3Arena gigs. There's an issue already with number of gig venues in Dublin and limited number of venues being able to cater for certain sized audiences so don't think it's ideal.
doubt anyone laughs either …………………
Rival Consoles playing the Button Factory on 11th May
