Starting a thread for 2025 gigs as they'll likely start rolling in.
I'll arbitrarily throw in Rob Beckett playing the Olympia on the 26th September 2025 which went on sale today.
Wouldn’t say it was Springsteen or Swift specifically, remember Red Hot Chili Peppers costing me not far off €140 in 2022. Prices have been rising for ages and people have continued to pay them
Elton John similarly was seriously pricey iirc.
Much more concerning than the high standard prices is dynamic pricing. Don't be fooled thinking it's gone. The ones responsible only put it temporarily on hold waiting for the uproar it caused to be forgotten by the public and by the politicians that promised to ban it. This will be back with a vengeance.
Still being used (eg Lana Del Rey in Wembley)
dynamic will only work for a handful of shows every where demand is multiples of the capacity. Household names will be only ones using it and some may just avoid using it and have more vip or platinum tickets or just set standard price higher to test the breaking point between price and capacity
"household names", let's be clear here, c-word people use it (rhymes with punts for the slow learners), they set their fans against each other in a dog eat dog frenzy to see who the biggest idiot is and just how much they can ride their fans for.
f'them, f'them and the horses they rode in on, you don't need to pay that to see good quality bands and hear good music, be better gig goers and reject that shite.
Tempted by the fact the only 2 songs of his anyone knows are complete bangers.
Only thing that annoys me about dynamic pricing is that every time it's brought up the artist feigns ignorance over it, the artist has to agree to all this and whether to allow for dynamic pricing or not,
I think it was Taylor Swift was offered the chance to use it for her Australian tour and declined because it would damage her brand (now her tickets are scalped for 100-1000's)
Ticketmaster just provides the service of the buying and selling of them,
You're never gonna have a perfect system, if there's no dynamic people will scalp them and the artist doesn't see that money and if there's dynamic the artist gets some of the what would be scalper money,
Ticket prices now are ridiculous, the gig that comes to my mind is the Pantera one next year with its 200 euro standing tickets
Musical wallpaper.
saw doctors fairview Saturday 28th june
Kaiser Chiefs playing Collins Barracks (I think) in June/July 2025.
Heard an ad for it on the radio however can't see it online anywhere (yet).
They're doing a UK outdoor run for the 20th anniversary of Employment, So I would very enjoy if this is true.
Joanne McNally doing 23 nights in the Olympia....
I hate this country sometimes.
Has she ditched Aiken then as I swear she was always playing in Vicar?
she will end up doing triple that and a few 3 arenas to top it off. she did 75 nights in vicar on last tour
I saw that. Her tour name seems in weirdly poor taste. I suppose she's trying to be edgy.
the tour name is fine
There’s much worse out there, I don’t even think it’s trying to edgy
yeah switched over for the podcast shows in gaiety/3 arena etc and for this new tour
You hate Ireland because theres a very successful Irish comedian whos going to sell out 23 nights in a 1300 seater in the city centre, bringing in thousands of tourists from abroad and generating millions of euro through the entertainment industry while making people laugh?
doubt anyone will be travelling from abroad to see her in Dublin tbh
I know 4 or 5 people who have.
Girls weekend away. McNally gig, night out in Temple Bar etc.
Had google this lady. Had no idea who she was - am I sad/bad? Each to their own. I'm not a big comedy buff at all. I'm a bit sad re comedy - only like stuff like Fr Ted, Monty Python, weird sh*t. And, yikes, tour name is indeed a wee touch close to the edge.
The nal short for McNally by any chance?
Yes, we are a fantastic country in many ways, but the fact that large numbers of people will flock to see utter garbage like the Mrs Brown stage show or Vogue Williams less talented friend makes me question if we should be allowed leave the house.
I don't have any hate for Joanne McNally but her comedy is firmly aimed at, or perhaps simply lapped up by middle aged women who (largely) have no interest in stand-up comedy or haven't been to a stand-up show in their lives and probably won't go to any others. All power to Joanne and her fans but personally I find her comedy bland with an overreliance on the same shtick and references to female body parts without any actual punchline.
She's in the same bracket I'd put someone like Jason Byrne. Deeply unfunny (to me) but mystifyingly popular.
Comedy is wildly subjective though. As hynesie08 says, Mrs. Browns Boys is insanely popular despite being comedy for the stupid. But that's it really, popularity doesn't equal quality.
For me, its irritating because there are far far better stand-up comedians out there but never get the push whilst somehow this crap sells out like hot cakes.
PQs Dec gigs in Belfast & Galway moved to Jan. Definitely poor sales for the latter. It’s gone from a 1,200 venue to a 280 one and tickets are still being sold. Predictable in this instance as over-ambitious but a nice early year night out with very decent local crew Shark School in support.
Foggy Notions with more emoji clues. First one Panda Bear potentially?
Kaiser chiefs Saturday august 23rd Collins barracks for Wider than pictures series
Rival Consoles playing the Button Factory on 11th May
doubt anyone laughs either …………………
Think whatever you think of McNally or comedy don't think it's great for same artist to take it over for 23 gigs. Think she'd be better off playing a few 3Arena gigs. There's an issue already with number of gig venues in Dublin and limited number of venues being able to cater for certain sized audiences so don't think it's ideal.
