I think it will be FF/FG again with god knows who. Hopefully a left wing party
It will be November 15th
I never said she wasn't popular in Kerry. I disagreed with the notion she is a good education minister.
Explain?
..
Further dumbing down of the curriculum and runaway grade inflation
Jackie, Michael, Danny.
Most voters would love to have TDs like the HRs representing them, but they are too arrogant to admit it.
TDs that achieve absolutely nothing, but make a hell of a lot of noise of out of doing stuff that councillors can do?
Jackie got a few deals out of FF - mostly for his benefit, not his constituents. The sons have got nothing and will continue to get nothing.
Also, John O Donoghue and Martin Ferris.
They did elect Dick Spring though so I'll give them that. It's also the best county in Ireland. So big ups Kerry.
a wedding ring 💍 really ?
wow every vote counts never seen it that close
re the soc dems their new leaders seem to be earnest and well meaning which is to be admired. However for the rough and tumble of political ‘senior hurling’ it would be unclear to me if they have the intestinal fortitude or resilience for government. I could be wrong, I look at the Greens and they by and large did. Certainly much of the Green agenda they have was delivered and over time we will see the impact
You don't get 8,000 votes over the quota by achieving nothing.
Some people think that TDs should only be doing national business and leave everything else to councillors.
But the reality is with 174 TDs there really isn't enough national business to go around.
Every TD can't be introducing new legislation all the time, so they have to do local work.
And our political system has evolved so that TDs can "influence" public services on behalf of their constituents.
So if my TD will help expedite my passport renewal because it's lost somewhere in the system why shouldn't I use them to do that and reward them at the next election if I'm satisfied with the outcome.
As a Kerry resident I can say you dont know what you're talking about
Just looking at Donegal.
Pringle is ahead of McConologue by 341 with Bradley FG now eliminated and her 6176 votes being transfered.
With here being FG and from Letterkenny, geographically much closer to McConalogue from Inishowen than Pringle from Killybegs, it would strongly suggest that McConalogue will take that seat rather than Pringle.
Would tend to agree with your analysis, an important seat to take for FF/FG to get to 86.
FG have left a few seats behind them with poor candidate selection/strategy - Wicklow, Kerry, Wexford come to mind.
Looking at the remaining seats, it seems like FG will get 38 and FF 47, which will give 85 seats, 3 shy of a majority.
Plenty of like minded independants to do a deal with. Independant Ireland has 4, might even have 5 seats.
You have others like Boxer Moran, Noel Grealish, Verona Murphy, Michael Lowry, as well as the 2 Healy Rae's. There are probably few others I am forgetting.
But there are at least 10-11 independent TD's ready to sit down for a deal. All they would need are about 6-7 to get a bit of a buffer.
They are very clever people in Kerry make no mistake about that. Very crafty people.
It happens. Big issue is that even if you see it fall in, there's nothing the presiding officer can do to help, the box can't be opened until the votes are counted.
Stephen Donnelly lost his seat
FG won't step away and give up the opportunities of ministries, the lure of power will be too much!
silly question time, so all these people that did not get voted back in e.g. Stephen Donnelly, Anne Rabbitee, Catherine Martin etc
so essentially, they have lost their job. But do they normally have they some default job to go back to within politics or is it back on to jobs.ie or whatever.
Wonder what party he will switch to now?:)
they will probably get nominated to the seanad for a few years. If not and they leave politics I think they get a parachute payment or something to tide them over
Impossible, Martin said he's the best health minister in 20 years.
Absolutely beautiful
Yes the best Health Minister since Michael Martin , Michael Martin said.
They would need to sign on for credits to keep their contributions up with regards pensions etc
Mick Barry out in Cork North Central. It looks like voters have given People Before Profit a kicking this weekend. Gino Kenny voted out, Brid Smith's heir failed to get in and Joan Collins of that tradition also losing her seat.
The Irish public don't like extremes.
they’ll have the Seanad or one of 500k NGO’s to pick from.
Satisfied with the results in my cons(Kildare North). As i predicted(and voted), Farrelly, Lawless and Naoise will all take or have taken a seat. And as L10 predicted it would mean Durkan would lose his seat.
Great results for Soc Dem, but who knows if they'll be given the opportunity or indeed their members vote to go in to government.
FF will likely have a 10 seat lead over FG i believe? If so, that could mean we don't get the rolling Taoiseach nonsense, well you'd hope anyway
Is that you Eamon?
