I think it will be FF/FG again with god knows who. Hopefully a left wing party
It will be November 15th
Agree.
I would not see it a problem them finding that number who would be eminently biddable, but if a few more are needed they could be a problem down the line. I would still prefer them too the green lites of the SD`s and Labour though.
I know of him as I vote for him in local elections. Trust me if you are obsessed with all that culture wars guff you are going to hate him.
Murky past? What're you on about?
I'm not obsessed nor do I hate (much) but I do despise it.
I had every idea he'd be the same, but with Hobson's Choice…
Why are they so slow in Wicklow, I'm desperately waiting for Donnelly to lose his seat.
There's no rules for rotating Taoiseach. FF only got 1.1% more first preference votes than FG.
They might agree on slightly more ministers.
Or a 3 yr / 2 yr split on Taoiseach.
Better off waiting until the votes are counted.
FF also have the CC as an uncontested +1
I can see Paul Lawless leaving Aontu during this term.
What a pathetic party.
It looks like running Jennings was a mistake. Would have expected her to do better. A bit rich of Michael to complain about Keogh not getting votes down there. They voted for him when he ran. No obligation for them to vote for his replacement.
Donegal SF Neil Jordan eliminated, between Pringle and Mcconalogue for the last seat. Pringle about 1700 votes behind
Not so sure about that. He seems a loyal sort. Would expect him to see out the term at the very least.
There has to be a price for that if it were to happen otherwise FF don't go into government. Both said on TV they wouldn't go into government with SF. The electorate would never forgive them for a betrayal like that.
They will rotate. No rule about seat counts and FPV were very close between them.
They'll have to if they want power.
Have to rotate? Yes, I agree.
FF will be first in and probably more ministerial positions, but other than that, its as you were for FFG in the new govt.
No FG TD in Kerry for the first time since 1948 after Billy O’Shea was eliminated in the 13th count
Quite probably. If that is too hard a pill to swallow for FF though k can see FG supporting the government without an official power sharing arrangement but that seems very unlikely. Both know it’s better to be in h the driving seat around the cabinet table and they already work week together.
Let’s be honest too, if cooperation broke down the mutual vote transfers go with it. Not good for either party.
I think the difference is enough to say FF gets Taoiseach full term. It’s not a 1-2 difference. Even what I’m seeing (think 37 is guaranteed for FG) they’ll have 83-85 so will need someone else. Will be interesting to see negotiations on this and who else brought in. Can see someone like Bacik say she should also get a turn after what happened to the greens and she should be first…
I wonder did Brendan Griffin see the writing on the wall which promoted his exit?
Thats it. They have worked together rotationally for 5 years, its no challenge to carry it on, for both parties.
Getting it tight in Cavan Monaghan too. Will come down to the last few counts in a constituency they were hoping for two. Will probably get one in the end. Harris 'new energy' 'refreshing the party' strategy of replacing Heather with two men in their 60's coming a cropper.
FF get nothing without FG.
Cant see them going to the polls again.
No mandate for them going with SF.
So maybe a couple of cabinet seats is about all they will get.
Both FF tds on rte now. Michael looks like he's wondering how much work he'll have to do.
I think a rotating Taoiseach has to happen. Both parties are fairly closely matched with FF having the upper hand this time. I can’t see the FG supporting base being happy with a few ministerial seats. Both parties are significant enough to deserve mutual respect and I think a rotating Taoiseach smooths over a lot of the potential cracks or grumbling that could arise.
If the gap is as wide as expected the question will be 'are there any self respecting FFers left?' if they rotate. Of course Micheál has more or less given FG a stick to beat them with now. Stupid really.
Who falls under RTEs Others category? Probably that 100% Redress guy in Donegal but are there others? I heard something about an Animal Rights party yesterday.
Social Democrats strike me as a party made up of ex Labour rebels.
Any difficult decisions and that party will fall apart.
Yeh, seen PAW stood a few candidates. 'Something Animal Welfare'
Anyone else with a registered party that excludes them from Independents.
That would Joan Collins R2C (0 seats), Wallace/Daly I4C (0 seats) and all the micro far right parties, all of which are registered, none of which were getting a seat.
Martin seems to have total control of the party though. If he decides on a rotating taoiseach there'll be some grumbling but they will go along…
Still begs the question.
