I think it will be FF/FG again with god knows who. Hopefully a left wing party
It will be November 15th
Now that you mentioned Mayo - it's interesting to note how Lisa Chambers murky past has eventually caught up with her.
Loving RTE's dedicated live feed by constituency feature - Wicklow here:
https://www.rte.ie/news/election-24-constituency-live-blogs/1483357-wicklow-local-updates/
Here's latest:
Harris' bumper transfers lifted Donnelly, but my gut is there is a general dislike of Donnelly in the constituency, that goes beyond his party and government position, that's why he only got 6% first prefs. He got 20% off Harris' transfers in a "status quo" vote as it were.
If that's true it's hard to see from whom he'd get enough transfers from those beneath him to overhaul Timmins.
I suspect either Cullen or Behan more likely to overhaul Donnelly, than Donnelly to overhaul Timmins.
Not in Ireland at the minute, or else I'd be very tempted to take a spin down to Shoreline with a bucket of popcorn!!
Aontu get second TD, a win in Mayo
Uh-oh ;-)
Disgusted here too - I was convinced that this election would sound the death knell for the Greens, that they would be forever consigned to the dust bin of history. I guess the only consolation is that ROG will be a lone voice in the wilderness spouting on the back benches.
FG’s strategy goes pear shaped again in Mayo.
Labour guy beat the awful SD candidate Elise O'Donovan in Limerick City
SFs strategy goes pear shaped, nationwide.
FG did fine in Mayo. 35% can only get you 2 seats. Don't see how that's mismanagement of the vote.
Again? When did it last do so?
They got 4 in a 5 seater in 2011. They got 2/3rds of their candidates elected in 2016 and 2020.
Yep, Patsy O'Brien queered the pitch for them on various levels. Don't see how they could have taken three seats with him in the field as (inexplicably) strong as he was…
Why was she awful? Or is this just more boards commenters being awful themselves?
All the high moral grounders cooing about Stanley getting elected silent about O’Brien screwing FG strategy in Mayo.
O’Brien earlier hinted the leak came from within FG.
Instead of asking a plethora of questions on a fast moving election thread, maybe search on the internet?
You probably will think her behaviour is fine, but I don't.
I'll admit I haven't done much research on them, but I'm surprised how weak the transfers were from Joan Collins' party (Right to Change) to the PBP candidate De Nórtúin in Dublin South-Central. Of the 3900 votes, only about 1000 went to De Nórtúin, with the rest evenly spread among 5 candidates.
Could be decisive in De Nórtúin not winning a seat as she's only 400 behind coming into the last count.
The far left **** hate everyone not in their own microparty.
De Nortuin is gone, the last seat went SF.
At least he's impotent for the next 5 years. Hopefully we'll not hear anything out of him.
I googled and couldn't find anything that can be considered awful. She seems a typical Soc dem councillor.
I question whether he'll even find a Technical Group in the Dáil willing to have him. If not, we literally won't hear from him.
She left her own party then came back for inexplicable reasons; and has an ongoing feud with her ex, who was the Green TD.
For the win
The feud with the green td seems to be that the green td was talking about her in a WhatsApp group. That's on him, not her. Didn't realise they were previously an item.
She left the soc dems and rejoined. Okay. Still doesn't highlight why she's awful though?
I was a bit ratty in my post actually didn't mean to be so apologies I'm on two threads at same time I mistook you for another poster
I'm just glad she didn't make it to the Dail, no time for people with her public attitude. And no, I'm not discussing it on this thread!
He has picked up a seat in Mayo.
She is "woke"
Sheehan who won is also "woke" it's just the poster doesn't know that yet because he is lower profile. Eliza O'Donovan is like Hazel Chu of Limerick such is the obsessive hate some have of her.
That's what I've picked up from afar. I get the impression that she's really rather unpopular outside of the voters that get her elected, rather than the general indifference that centre left candidates have.
The whatsapp group comments were based on their previous relationship.
No, he's Labour so by default he is 'woke' and I do not support that, him or his party.
I know of her 'wokeness' but also her antics so therefore do not want to see her move up to the national stage.
Game changer. Not.
from what I am seeing:
FF 43-48 seats,
SF 40-41 seats
FG 37 seats
Questions need to be asked about Harris in FG. If FF get 48 ( id say I think 46 more realisteic and FG have 37) rotation Toiseach has to be off the table. Maybe minority government ?
Michael Ring didn't seem to happy that Keira Keogh didn't get any votes in South Mayo after him servicing South Mayo for years. Also that he wasn't allowed to step foot into the area. FG had a candidate for South Mayo Martina Jennings.
When Martina Jennings votes got distributed after her elimination Keira Keogh got 712 of them. Alan Dillion got 1,100 of them votes and Duffy 251.
