I think it will be FF/FG again with god knows who. Hopefully a left wing party
It will be November 15th
No, he's still in it unfortunately
2/1 for FG, FF and Independents.
It would not surprise me if they looked to add II as well to cover any possible drop in the numbers over the term of the government. Adding II would likely appeal to both FF & FG more than the SD`s or Labour.
Yes I'm thinking he's quite likely to get enough transfer votes now from Walsh to pick up one of those two remaining seats. Unfortunately indeed.
Exactly.
II don't have a whip. They are (for the purposes of coalition building) distinct needs and characters
DubW count just now
O'Gorman got in :(
I'm fecking really disgusted by this even more than Coppinger getting in
1/2, bit of a difference.
It would not surprise me if they looked to add II as well to cover any possible drop in the numbers over the term of the government.
Don't see this, much easier to add 1 or 2 more independents to bolster security
dding II would likely appeal to both FF & FG more than the SD`s or Labour.
Maybe to some elements in FG but don't see them appealing to FF leadership at all
If FFG have 88 exactly, they'll give the Ceann Comhairle to someone entirely opposed (Catherine Connolly?) and then they have a small cushion
There is a manifesto of sorts but yes, they don't apply a whip
IIt's been fairly obvious for most of the day, those two would make it.
Big change for RoG going from Minister to lone GP TD.
Not offically, but the party is so small that the leader will effecively do that job.
For all Tobin's bluster about making gains, he's returning to the Dail a lone voice once more!! 🤣
I suppose it keeps him from indoctrinating young minds in college/university
when was FF and FG a combined 86% ?
Indeed. And 88, even 91 seats, looks possible for FFG.
I dont think they will quite hit 88, but certaainly it is in scope.
O'Gorman gets back in
I always say to never, ever pay any attention to my election predictions and this proves it. Thought he was possibly the most screwed of all them and that Martin would get back in.
Has Lawless not got in in Mayo?
I don't think they will be at the 87 that was predicted about 5 hours ago, 84 or so appears to be the guesstimates now on RTE etc but sure who knows
Late 82 election was 84.4, but if you deceptively round up both (neither should be) you get 86%. I think that's the high mark.
He can be
FF and FG used to power swap but now they work together to keep everybody else out. That's the new model.
Both FG & FF T.D.`s had been getting it in the neck because of the Greens in the last government. II would appeal to those and their supporters more than adding another Green light like the SDs or Labour.
I agree that adding more Indies would cover most eventualities, but just all Indies could be like trying to flock mice at a crossroads.
Still in play but the PAtsy O'Brien ex-FG fella will probably get it but not over yet!
The point is not that they don't have a specific person to have that title. The point is that (unlike every other party) membership of the party is not contingent on voting with the party's policies. The difference between II and a couple of independents that largely agree is much smaller than the difference between II and any of the other parties
Very very poor line up for Dublin West - probably the worst set of candidates for a long time.
Jasus Coppinger and ROG got in, must be the worst constituency in Ireland
A lot of dislike towards O Gorman out there and very justifiable too. Disgusted to learn that he scraped back in.😕
Liam Lawlor
Tomas MacGiolla
Joan Burton
Leo Varadkar
Jack Chambers
Roderic O'Gorman
Ruth Coppinger
Patrick Nulty
Joe Higgins
Ah, Dublin West. Giving it all since the 80s
Depends on the numbers. If 5 or 6 indos gets FFG to what Martin & Harris regard as a workable majority I don't think there would be any difficulty finding that number of eminently biddable candidates.
Great to see Herman Kelly eliminated.
