New Munster chat thread folks. warning deserved there. https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=109477571#post109477571
He seems to have been given good credit for Northampton emerging in recent years. I think this could be a good short term appointment.
Prob should have been clearer that if he goes well for us and we want to keep him, whats the likely hood of that being sanctioned.
Ive a couple of friends who are saints fans who just text and said we have made a great signing in Chris Boyd
From a Saints fan
Just reading his "CV" on Wiki, I think it's a great signing, his style seems to match our attacking style and will give us time to get someone towards the end of the season rather trying get a Head Coach from who is available mid season.
Regardless of how well he performs that will be down to the IRFU/David Humphreys
It's looking like no head coach is going to be appointed until the summer.

Munster Rugby and the IRFU are pleased to confirm that Chris Boyd has joined the province as Performance Consultant. In his role, Boyd will support Interim Head Coach Ian Costello and the wider coaching group over the coming months in addition to providing support to the wider aspects of team performance.

If Bleuler goes well for the rest of the season, whats the likely hood of us being able to keep him on after the contract is up?
Great news about Nanks, he's one of the best centres in the league. Having Edogbo back will be like a new signing, was matching or bettering Joe McCarthy's numbers at the time of his injury
I thought he was excellent for us on Saturday night
Good to hear Klyen and Jager are nearing returns, just gives us more weight and power to the pack. Was impressed with how Blueler scrummed last Saturday against a Lions scrum that is one of stronger units in the league. I think he is going to be a solid med. joker for us this season. He’s very willing to carry it too in the tight.
It is, some injury list all the same.
I se Archer has signed on til the end of the season. Still going strong so makes sense but we badly need youth to be coming up ASAP.
That's one of the more positive updates we've had in awhile.
watched the highlights on the URC youtube channel, theres a clip after the first try where BB is returning a kick and he is moving so slowly he might as well be walking. i honestly thought he must have been injured because he was just sauntering back with the ball.
Squad Update, besides the lads coming back from International Duty here's the injury update

Nankivell extends his contract for two more years
Ahern was listed as having a knock in Fridays team announcement.
As to Stade Francais, they're 12th in the Top14 and haven't won an away game all season. With the current format I'd expect them to target their home games against Sarries and Northampton.
yes huge week coming up. Anyone know if Tom Aherne is injured, surprised he didnt play at the weekend if fit. At least it looks like the irish contingent will be back uninjured from irish camp so would expect Nash, Crowley, Casey, POM, Beirne all to come straight into the side which then should give us a bit more impact from the bench.
Next week will be the big one. Stade Francais had big wins earlier in the season against Montpellier and Clermont and I'm sure they will be reviewing the recent Munster games giving them some confidence
He's extremely frustrating to watch
I could see the logic in giving him a shot as cover with his experience but if I keep watching him I'll be bald b4 season end.
I was giving him leeway til post Xmas but that's running out fairly quickly
I’d be very surprised if he gets a second contract.
At this stage so would I. Again, he's not to blame for our ills but he's contributing to some of them by just poor play and it's something you expect more from with his experience
I think that’s what’s frustrating about Burns, he doesn’t make much impact because there’s no real urgency to what he does. He sits deep in the pocket, he kicks down the line only about 10-15m, he doesn’t kick his goals well. He seems happy to go through the motions out there. I get he’s a veteran there to provide experience when JC is unavailable, but he just doesn’t offer enough for he. I’d be very surprised if he gets a second contract.
Billy really needs to make an impact when he's starting or Butler will pass him out.
He was not to blame for a lot of our errors tonight but leaving 4 points behind from easy enough kicks made our task a bit more difficult.
The officials seemed out of their depth but it probably didn't favour either team.
The pack did well and I thought Bleuler had a great first game for us.
If burns could kick, it would have been more comfortable.
Loss run over, that's a big win v a stacked Lions team that have been playing well
Hopefully build on it now with the group to come back from Dublin.
Coombes,hodnett, jack o & bleuler went well I thought
Farrell again in centre was great
gosh they made hard work of that😀
PFP is playing well enough
At least the new saffer lhp is holding his own.
Ah Burns he just can't kick
First 20 minutes weren't too bad but then we caught the Irish bug and started dropping balls, left, right and centre.
That was a pretty awful first half the break doesnt seem to have improved matters any bit.
