I think it will be FF/FG again with god knows who. Hopefully a left wing party
It will be November 15th
That seems to be it alright, they're calling the seats that they think are settled. They've called 136 with 38 in contention.
MM is back
She has ran a number of terrible elections, I doubt she will be in place for another one
May not need another party.
A lot of independents will be elected and don’t see them willing to force another GE. Minority government to start off with if they can’t bolt on another party.
Yes exactly. If the majority have good lives under the current government set up then why change?
Poor old MLMD on Virgin, she doesn't seem to understand how an election works
Not a surprise, thats a couple now SF and their supporters seem to be complexed by how electons work
I'm inclined to agree. Next up is pearse for leader. He'll give the other 2 a run for their money.
We are a country full of idiots, FFG again, we will get everything we deserve…….
Can't see Pearse as leader.
I think if FFG are even barely below the 50% seat mark they'll recruit another party. A hyper-cautious merchant like Martin doesn't like leaving anything up in the air…
Three first counts complete - DL, Meath East and Fingal W. - and all have the same turnout: 58%.
If that is the national turnout, it will be the lowest in our history for a general election. The bad weather had some effect but it's not as if we never had rain before 😩
I don't know if the additional 430,000 voters on the register distorted the numbers. In 2011, turnout rose to almost 70%, partly because the register was cleared of defunct voters.
Is it too early for me to be optimistic that Paul Murphy loses his seat
fingers crossed………..
Fair consensus tgere on RTE - immigration and the mees government made of it caused issues with SF and they did really well to recover from it. Their obituary was written but SF refused to die.
i some how doubt that, dont be surprised of more ffg governments throughout the 30's!
Objectively he is right. 5-6 majority is the minimum you need to form a stable government.
It all depends on what the men in Andersonstown decide.
Do you understand how an election works?
Edit -
The majority of people are doing very well in Ireland which is one of the best countries in the world to live in right now. No wonder FFG are back.
Trying to spin it as a great day for the party. It's really not. With an increased amount of TDs in the 34th Dail they haven't really made any increase as it stands as a party.
But we shall see what the final results are but this sums it up
"If in the summer of 2023 Sinn Féin was told it’d be on 20%, behind Fianna Fáil, it would have said that would be an unthinkable disaster."

FFG will always be open to more coalition partners but not at any cost.
All small parties who join governments tend to get savaged at the next GE so wouldn’t be surprised if next small party demand a lot of their policies.
GP paying the price now for being the mudguard but got policies in.
MLMD on the Virgin TV talking about change 😂
It doesn't matter if it's a good or bad night for Sinn Fein. The truth of it is if they don't end up in government they have to be seen to be trying a different approach and that will be Mary Lou gone.
Virgin medias call on first preference votes. Exit poll from last night a bit off
Oh i agree 100%
Will hutch get in? It's possible at this stage. 😡
Very possible. Will depend on transfers

Final tally
Finally tally national
FG 20.5 SF 19.1 FF 21.9 GP 3.3 Lab 4.7 SD 4.8 Anotu 3.8 Ind Ireland 3.6
PBP 2.9%
Surely the most idiotic shameful result in the history of the state of he does.
We elected our fair share of corrupt politicians and people who have killed but none as odious as him.
