I think it will be FF/FG again with god knows who. Hopefully a left wing party
It will be November 15th
He's just got the boot in Meath W
😁 statement of the obvious 101.
I wouldn't rule her out just yet, she could catch Grace Boland on transfers yet. They are a long way off the quota.
Tom Murphy is a former FG'er, but his geography could favour Clifford-Lee on the transfers. Hard to know yet.
How many constituencies did he stand in??
Two AFAIK, Meath W and Fingal W
Turnouts not looking great
sub 60% in both declared counts.
58.2 and 58.9%
On Berry: I voted for him in the last election, but he came across ( to me anyhow ) as too fond of backing the government, so I gave him no vote him this time.
You'd wonder how accurate the turnout figures truly are considering the electoral registers are in so much of a mess. A lot of people are registered in multiple constituencies after moving and so on.
I don't think they're making much of a prediction. Just a statement of where people ended up from the tallysheets.
Why is virtually all of Europe electing right wing governments. Our corporation tax fleecing other countries shields us from taking tough decisions, as long as it keeps flowing in we'll be grand. And sure it'll flow in forever, won't it?!
They are in a jocker alright, never been fixed up despite many promises.
Indeed, FFG are aligned.
Thanks for disproving your original point. There is no collision between FF & FG, they are unified.
Lovely vote efficiency on show in Meath West, where the bottom 6 candidates are all eliminated after the first count.
Good to see that dog kicking creep Philip Dwyer doing so poorly at least in the tallies.
MLMD doesn’t sound like someone under pressure to resign. 😁
So if FFG are say 3 or 4 short of a majority and both Soc Dems and Labour are on 7-8 seats, which do we think would Simon & Micheal plump for as a third wheel?
You spectacularly missed the actual point. They are afraid to let go of each other and stand on their own. Joined at the hip now in all but name.
Soc Dems. Shaft the Shinners yet again by destroying a left wing party.
I'd say Labour if they have the number of seats needed. SocDems very cool about going into Gov as a prop. But the old saying applies. "A bad day in Government is better than a good day in opposition" so we'll see.
more of the same is a welcome outcome for the majority it seems
I think there will be enough independants willing to back government if needed
He sounded like he was really under threat.
Yes, they are aligned. We established that already Francie.
Still a way to go in the seat counts yet though.
SocDems very cool about going into Gov as a prop.
I know that but I was wondering does that make them less attractive as a government partner to FFG? I guess it signals they would drive a hard bargain and if you have a more biddable alternative…
This is it. And its what many of us on here have been saying for months.
The exit poll said 65% of voters had maintained or improved their standard of living under the FFG govt.
Once you read those numbers, its logical that 2 out of 3 people dont want a change in govt, despite what the 1 on 3 will say.
He amazingly got one vote less in his Meath West, 416, than he did in Fingal West, 417.
Miriam o Callaghan telling MLMD that SF won't be in government on 6-1 news. ML choking on her answer. Talking of maximizing impact by talking to other parties
Will she be able to endure 5 more years in opposition? She waffles well 😁
Dublin Bay South has 2 candidates I'd have in the category of "Gets lots of media exposure but nobody can ever give a good explanation why" in Hazel Chu and Kate O'Connell. The voters don't get the appeal either, with the 2 getting 12% combined.
Ireland is also electing right wing governments.
The only FGer I’ll be cheering for, go on Butterly!
