I think it will be FF/FG again with god knows who. Hopefully a left wing party
It will be November 15th
The keystone of the plan was their public housing model, where homes were to be sold to people but the land will belong to the government. Its as clear as mud as to how this would work in the real world.
Unlikely to affect any of the 3 parties votes in any way though.
That debate on The Tonight show os gas craic.
You always see a conspiracy, dont you. Is this from the days of when Gerry and the lads from West Belfast were barred from appearing on RTE?
Sure, why not blame the mods of boards.ie while you are at it? You did it before. You are very very paranoid Francie. There are no spooks out there trying to get you, or control RTE at the behest of the government.
Jesus, is that the best you can do? RTE living rent free in your head.
Honestly, you must be very tired @FrancieBrady but when the dust settles over the weekend, the post-mortum is going to begin on SF, as to how they lost this election, and lose it they did. They were the main opposition party and it looks like they will lose vote share. An extraordinary outcome…
I hate exit polls. They're like spoilers for the count.
Who won the debate? Really bleak for SH
And they certainly will if you put SF in. They don't have the personnel to form a cabinet, very few able spokespersons. All loudmouths like their leader. We even had one of them on the radio yesterday telling us what 'great craic' Gerry Adams is. Not a description many victims from his past would use
"In my view....nothing nothing nothing"
Refusing to accept the data. Not uncommon with FFers tbh.
I think he is doing a very bad interview.
Where did you get the 40k figure because it's completely wrong. They will complete less this year.
Just blatantly waffles his way out. Tge interviewer just lets him away with it so why not.
No, they are on track to deliver less this year than last. Developers and industry bodies have been warning that new projects are stopping and no longer viable due to a plethora of issues - all of which are under govt control
Michael Martin talks a lot of Nothing.
He doesn't answer any straight questions either but he is so seasoned at it that people think he is statesmanlike. He will spout any rubbish just to avoid the question. Like many old FF politicians, he talks out of both sides of his mouth.
In another small leap Sinn Fein also want to increase the bank levy.
There's zero reason for the banks to show their hand. If (and that's a big if) SF's policy ever comes into being, the banks won't want to be left behind and will find a way to lend.
I also think the restrictions on further sale aren't a huge deal either. People are getting on the ladder later and later in life. I don't see many people trading up/moving around these days.
I don't really see a route to power for SF unless FF mutiny and tell Martin he's running for the Aras next year so it doesn't really matter what SF's policy is.
FF are far more disciplined and passionate about their party IMO
The current iteration of SF is very like them in their early days which is why I fancy them as a horse to watch, just not this time
The difference is today they’re operating in a squeezed market
The good news even for Blanch is time heals a lot of things you don’t like about parties because things move on and compromises grow compromises
FF shouldn't exist after what they did to this country. It boggles me that they will win the most seats in this election.
Harris is losing this election for his party single handedly -he’s finally reached his level of incompetence and it shows- I’ve a feeling FG will lose a lot of seats, some to FF and the rest to independents - no one likes an aloof politician but it’s unforgivable at election time - you can just feel his inexperience - he thinks elections are just about hand shaking and running around a town at breakneck speed
Are FFFG not increasing the housing supply no? 40k to be complete this year up from 32k last year, at the same time as the building sector is fully utilised?
Simon Harris would need security in case McGahon attacked him, can that be arranged at such short notice.
Thanks heard it on the news just now- pizz poor for Labour but at least they gained 1 percentage point- it’s the party I was hoping could become the 3rd force but not a hope of that happening -Very low figures for all 3 main parties- it will be one hell of a coalition requiring many independents -could take months to agree and who knows , we could be having another election next year; definitely not beyond the bounds of possibility
I’m not aware of a worse one from the position they were in. Unprecedented as it is incompetent. I don’t like Phil Hogan but I thought he had more to offer than that and was actually expecting a slick campaign. FF’s has been that.
From my reading of it,lightning hit a few fuses in their election brain, they hooked up a Kilkenny generator to it,Phil hogan was the brand name I think but that overloaded both the election fuse board and the government one and now a lot of the election planners are running round like the stepford wives with out brains pressing buttons, sometimes the right ones, sometimes the wrong,it’s really random
Any clearer? I’m not
It’s no way to run a campaign anyway
Times will want something out of it. It will be all over Twitter/Bluesky too
Update on that. RTE thankfully seeing sense and putting a news special on RTE 2 for the exit poll on Friday night.
RTE confirmed an exit poll with the Irish Times for Friday night.
I'm not sure if it will be announced on the Late Late Show or if there will be a news special. I think they've announced it on the Late Late Show before but it should be particularly weird given that Kilety won't have a clue about the parties.
No, it’s a way of saying ‘who gets the largest mandate’.
Local to me FG are doing some stuff as 1/2/3 for specific candidates (well, 1/2 and then not mention the 3 by name even; some stuff is 1 for a name, vote for the others as you wish; some is vote 1/2/3 as you wish and some is just vote 1 - no mention of any running mates. Huge leaflet from the sitting TD delivered about how wonderful he is and you'd swear he was running alone.
Absolute mess. They should be able to take two seats here but I now think 1.
So they knew if was coming and it breaks in election week? Worse it is getting
