Sminky shorts
Released by Hallmark Records. Their main rival was Hot Hits released by Music For Pleasure. Both had very attractive ladies on the sleeves. Top Of The Pops kept going until 1985 but the later volumes sold poorly and are very rare now.
From the late 1970s, K-Tel and Ronco put out a lot of compilations of original artists but crammed 10 tracks per side so a number would be edited. It wasn't until December 1982 that they decided to include full single versions - Ronco's Raiders Of The Pop Charts was the first. But 11 months later (November 1983), the first Now That's What I Call Music album was released and totally changed the compilation landscape.
He had a Datsun/Nissan Bluebird as well, after the Carina I think, a silver grey colour that lasted a good few years. Probably an early/mid 90’s one.
Least it was reliable 🙂
And here’s a Datsun! They were notorious for rust as they aged!
on Pickwick Hallmark Records, sold in Woolworths.

FOR REG
Usually made with cardboard, string and crayon.
Buying a new car in Nov/Dec and driving it without plates til January to register it. Wide spread until new reg system started in ‘86.
Top of the Pops albums, Songs from the Top 20 but done by a cover band, released by KTel or someone like that.
The Old Fella had one that exact colour, he drove it for years and sold it to a neighbour who drove it until it stopped many years later.
Haha, brilliant. I remember my first mobile came "free" from the AA. No idea what model it was, but looked like if a brick and a wasp had a baby together.
I need to find some 50p coins for the electricity meter in my flat. Otherwise everything will be in darkness tonight.

Hah, I remember blowing pounds of credit on my first day setting up a greeting etc. because I didn't know there was a freefone number to do that
Calls were 70p a minute peak / 50p off peak (IIRC) and text messaging wasn't available for about a year, then it was 20p a pop! 😮 this was still slightly cheaper than Eircell. Digifone had way cooler handsets then too. A Nokia 5110 or some Ericsson POS with a one line display… no contest.

Probably the worst crisps I’ve ever eaten. They tasted “burnt”
I loved these as a kid, although whatever blue colouring that was used in them would turn your poop blue. It’s probably been banned by the EU since.
I'd totally forgotten about those ads and the anthropomorphic salt and vinegar container characters. I can remember when I was very young wondering why you couldn't see their faces on the packets.
Don't forget the cheaper option, 2p per pack when Tayto were 3p.
They did in the animated ad, don't think they ever did on the bag.
Great to see these again.
Did the Tayto Salt & Vinegar containers have eyes and a mouth at one point (1970s) ?
The Steve Silvermint TV adverts were voiced by the aforementioned, Bob Gallico.
Crisps!

used to work in a caravan park this was standard issue. Anything else got stolen
Christ. Some years back due to some other retro shît, I looked up "Izal" and found a thread about a UK boarding school where they were "reminiscing" about how abusive the teachers were. Uncomfortable bum wipe was the least of their worries alas. Same thing was common here, with the added bonus of violence- and sex-crazed Catholic priests.
In the late 70s my grandparents (both born 1900) had a soft bum roll for visitors and the "greaseproof paper" Jeyes 1-ply for themselves. Stick to what you know… stick being the operative word! 🤮
