6euro a kg going freely now for dairy stock so presuming yours are better I’d say any factory but don’t take less than that anyways factories can’t keep up with demand now and only going to get worse
worse or better?
worse for the factories cattle aren’t there what they are paying for cull cows is unreal at d mo they have robbed winter finishers for so long it’s finally caught up with them

What are they paying for the r grade cull at the moment. Sold a butt of a lm cow in macroom Saturday 14 years old lost her calf in August. She had no ration got but had plenty flesh. 605 kgs 1500.would the factory have matched that money.
Seen overage & no qa AA's in Carnaross yesterday , in around 600kgs made from €3 - €3.15 per kg.. all bought by a factory agent and I would say on a hook today.
I'd say that's the price of her. 50% KO at €5per kg
Asked the agent i deal with on the rare occasions i send an animal to the factory today about one cow i have, 5.20 for an R, 4.90 if she’s an O. You can be sure there’s more to be got for a few of them.

Co. Cork some will grade R but there will be a good few O's. Also have about 5 CHX's that should grade R.
How are quotes looking this week, any improvement? Hard to part with cattle if prices are still climbing
they are hungry for u/e stock so shop around
They’ll be doing well to get e grade stock off me.
E grade stock are very rare, anything above U- usually has to be carried to very heavy weight to ve got into them grades. Ya they may be looking for them, I suspect it more decent sized carcasses R=/R+ tgat would really attract them.
Neighbour here getting €5.70 flat price for 2 loads of friesian bullocks, mainly O’s with an odd P. I reckon he’s doing alright at that.
That Is some price are they over 30 months
I didn’t actually ask him that but I doubt it at that price. I’ll be talking to him again today and I’ll ask.
It's unlikely they are Jan/Feb born 2023 cattle. Very hard to get adequate flesh where you would get a very good price for cattle. Maybe Early Autumn born 2022
I don't doubt he told you , but I don't believe him
Looking at what weanlings and little store bullocks were making in Carnaross last night beef will need to be €6/ kg next year or lads will loose their shirts. Anything at all was €3+ a kg and if it was fancy it was touching €4. Seen a fancy little bullock 380kgs €1,480. He had shape but legs & body were very short, he would max out at 600kgs next summer at anything less than €1,800 he would be loosing money.
Wouldn't be made up with 1800 either.
I was watching online for a bit and there seemed to be great money going for weanlings but there was somebody brought a batch of yellow Charolais heifers in and I thought they were value, 8-9 months old 310-330 kgs and not crossing 900 in the most part . It’s hard to tell on the camera but they didn’t look like bad sorts. There were a few nice red lims 380 or there abouts made 1000 with their weight in general but I thought them small for age at 16-18 months.
Anyone know what a cull LM bull would make at the minute ?
upto 2.75/kg depending on flesh
@kk.man you would be just breaking even.
@Who2 yes the only bit of value that there seems to be is in the heifer ring. Some of the 35kg ish heifers looking raggy look value. Especially if the are a little bit older than their weight or on 3 moves.
Have bought a good few weanlings out of carnaross this autumn. Never averaged more than 3.30 a load and I would consider them good enough value. Finished cattle are coming into good money. Especially heavy bulls. Have some to go maybe next week that were bought last November. I’d expect them to come into €2700 judging by their housing weights and typical housing performance. So I don’t mind paying 11 or 1200 to replace them.
what age were the bulls you killed, great prices
They will leave you nice money,is it all bulls you work with or some steers?
Will probably kill them next week but won’t be too far off with the price all going well. they will be 24 months in the spring. So probably averaging 22 months at the minute.
These would be the pick of the bulls I grazed all year and are being fed inside about 3 months. A little over a tonne of meal.
Mostly bulls now but do buy in some heavy bullocks to finish. Was buying continental store bullocks to finish the following year off grass but haven’t bought any this autumn. Prices didn’t make sense.
