I have listened to 39/43 episodes of "Calling It" and Ivan Yates hasn't given a single Aontu candidate beyond PT a chance at winning a seat. (coincidentally 2 of the 4 remaining episodes are Emer Toibin and Ellen Troy's constituencies so that might change)
I went looking for a link on this and tripped on something from 2022 that really made me laugh. Probably worth a share for the week that's in it. They are my laughing emojis beside the part that is something a 6 year old would say.(Yes, i know it's Gript, but it's a very funny story)
A Fine Gael Intercultural whatsapp groupchat has been shut down after pornographic material was shared into the group by the husband of a Fine Gael councillor who denies responsibility for the incident.
FG representatives responded by disbanding the group and saying they would ‘review membership’.
The pornagraphic video, which was posted into the Intercultural group chat on Whatsapp, shows a young woman doing exercise on a mat in front of a male trainer with her genitalia exposed. The group chat where the video was posted has been shut down since the incident.
Gript Media contacted the man who shared the video, who admitted that the video had been sent from his phone, but was adamant that it was not sent by him.
He said, “It came from my phone but I didn’t know anything about it”. 🤣🤣🤣
When asked if he had any knowledge of how the pornographic material was sent from his phone number the man said that his phone had “been misbehaving”.🤣🤣🤣

There was a time when sharing a bit of porn* was all the rage.
It's pretty harmless when you consider what's freely available these days but sharing it seems to be unacceptable.

The country voted overwhelmingly for abortion rights, and opposition of this is the basis on what the party has been founded on. Most of the anti-abortionists in our population are elderly people whose votes are all but guaranteed for FFG and would never vote for a party that they see as a lighter version of Sinn Fein
If it weren't for PT's very high profile with SF before he left them his seat would undoubtedly be in question as well.

I read Aontu’s manifesto and will never vote for them. Their anti-choice views mainly, but also their “common sense” approach to SPHE. No child in 3rd class is learning about the intricacies of how the menstrual cycle works, or how a biological female can medically transition to a traditionally male body. It’s just scaremongering. “Common sense” politics is a cover for -ism/-phobia

There's a slight chance they'll get in just off the back of Peadar's media performances; so why let the candidate say or do anything that might upset that!

That was one of the constituencies where Ivan Yates was on the fence for the final seat. He was considering her because he figured that Arklow would want its own candidate although he wasn't too enthusiastic when he heard that her campaign had no money and had hardly put up any posters.
That's a fascinating constituency. I wonder when was the last time in the history of the state that a constituency had no sitting TDs running in it. There may be none since the very first election.
Yeah she really should have put up posters but she is extremely well known and elected on the 1st count I think in the locals
I did laugh when it was being reviewed on RTE this morning I think and they said whoever is covering that count will be home in time for lunch
