So the balls-up has started since last night which makes Fairview from clontarf to Edges corner a single lane with bollards down the centre.
This will be a permanent feature and works will take 21 months.
well they're digging up the road around the footbridge on the parkside again and have the cycle lane closed off. i feel they'll be digging around the route forever and doing their usual poor tarmac patching afterwards, hope i'm proven wrong.
Bus stop 617 put back in full action (all routes) much to the delight of locals, then as a kick in the clackers, made for just the 130 today - slightly better than useless.
the inward city bound new stop is at the end of my road, which is great. on the opposite side i don't really see the point in having one there as it's so close to the next one anyway, it'll just slow buses down all for the sake of a 2 or 3 minute walk.
Not surprising as only one bus at a time can serve the stop.
If the locals in Clontarf can cope with the 130 frequency, I’m sure you can as well!
Ffs
I know you see the hole in the ground, I see the gates to heaven with the doors to Gaffneys.
That door is exit only for some reason
It’s a mad system they’ve continued since Covid. In one door, out the other.
Long covid, it really is terrible what it can do.
One staff on / behind the counter, adds some additional control on those coming in so I’m told. They have the other door open on busy match and concert days.
I cannot walk very far which I why I have only used the bus 4 times since this nonsense began. If I want to get the 15 or 27, will I be charged an extra fare to go one stop to get the bus I actually want?
Are the Clontarf locals not all using their bicycles?
https://about.leapcard.ie/tfi-90-minute-fare
If you use a Leap card, you can transfer to as many buses, trams or commuter trains as you want within 90 minutes of first tag on without being charged anything extra.
As above, no you won’t be charged twice.
I just got on a bus at the strandville stop. I wasn't following yous but yes now it says only 130 on it. Just got on a H something so buses are stopping at it for now but I don't think they know they're not supposed to, or something?
Can you ask your carer, or a young family member to help you work out how to take the bus?
I cycled the whole thing from amiens St to malahide road on Saturday. Is it finished? What are we going to talk about now?
How long did it take you?
I haven't been down there in a few days, but I think the last things to be done are the lights at Edge's Corner, and the driving school (which are brand new lights). These don't really affect the cycle routes though, so yeah, technically I think it's fully open for cycling.
Maybe they'll start a new project to widen the entire length of the cycle paths
I doubt it's even 10 minutes. It's amazing how busy it is inward in the mornings now. Even the hard pressed motorists looking on from the traffic jams must notice that it's actually being used.
They'll never admit that. Most of them still moaning online that's there's no cyclists using it.
Official opening is on some day this week.
Maybe it's time to make sections of it two way, as that's what's happening anyway.
Had to intervene last week, when I saw a man cycling the opposite direction, stop to berate a woman who was cycling side by side with her child. It looked to me like she had moved to protect her child initially. He still insisted that it was fine to cycle in the wrong direction, and didn't have to cycle in the lane on the opposite side.
Unfortunately exactly as I predicted!
This should have always been built as a two way path. It is too narrow for how many people will be using it in one direction, never mind idiots cycling the wrong way along it.
Anyone else noticed the constant presence of electric motorbikes flying up and down the route doing wheelies? There was a gang of about 8 of them on petrol scramblers in fairview Park on Saturday too, tearing up the football pitches. Garda are just totally non existent in the area.
I see them a lot in North Strand. On the road, rather than than the cycle path, luckily.
Has been a normal sight for a long time now.
A friend of mine who is a Garda said they don't chase them because the mainly can't keep up with them, and the liability if they were to crash and get injured.
So basically it's legal, if the police aren't interested. Ridiculous.
Gardai are not allowed "to engage" with motorcycles (electric or ICE). It's a directive from HQ, so don't blame the foot soldiers.
In the UK they seem to have gone the other way and engage in "tactical contact" :o
