Not sure what your point is there, but its true that SF want to spend a lot more of the windfall tax money than FF or FG do and that SF do not plan to save responsibly, as FFG intend to do.
If Sinn Fein can poll better than expected, Chris Andrews will hold his seat in Dublin Bay South and could edge Bacik out. Her seat isn't safe as she is battling with Hazel Chu for the similar trendy type voter.
If there is a consolidation in the vote pattern towards the big 3 parties in the last few days of the campaign, it will spell trouble for smaller parties.

No, if the US one came next I'd be tuning in to that. It has lots of characters. Some funny, some interesting, some bat sh!t crazy. Here we've been looking at the same faces for 10+ years. Simon Harris walking away from a care assistant was the most interesting thing to happen so far.
It's a pity we don't have a Monster Raving Loony Party or a Count Binface here, it would add a bit to seeing the same tired faces.

In the last few elections, transfers have begun to fly all over the place. It actually makes elections a little more predictable, as the first 3/4/5 in first preferences become most likely to take seats. The only exception to that has been Sinn Fein, who were more transfer toxic than anyone else.
I see two questions for this election. Firstly, will SF remain as transfer toxic? I think they will. Secondly, will there be a more even spread among lesser candidates? Yes, I think so, and that means transfers will go back to playing a huge role. If there are 3,000 first preferences between candidates of two different parties, it is harder to catch up, but if there are only 300, it is game on.
All the talk about corporation tax and People Before Profit want to INCREASE corporation tax to 20% if they get into government.

More negative press in election week. I hope the campaign team are not on big wages because they should have known as soon as this broke that it would mushroom. They went to ground instead of meeting it head on..
I am well aware of the difference between illegal migrants, refuges & asylum seekers. Can I suggest that you re read what I wrote - I never branded anyone a criminal.
Why oh why would anyone from abroad trying to enter this country destroy all his/her ID documents before presenting at the immigration office at Dublin airport and demand that he/she be treated as a refugee or asylum seeker?????? A genuine person would have no reason to do this. How can the immigration office, Garda or any other department carry out a background check on such individuals ??? Of course not all illegal immigrants destroy their ID documents. Some masquerade as asylum seekers, others as refugees happy in the knowledge that they have a better chance of winning the Euro Lotto two weeks in a row than being deported. It's called gaming the system- and they sure are milking it as they are well aware that we don't have a policy illegal immigrants. This lack of policy is costing us billions annual and it's just the tip of the iceberg as numbers are going to quadruple in the coming years as other EU countries & UK pull down the shutters.
Not directly related to above but thousands of Ukrainians who were accommodated across Europe after the Russian evasion left their host country and moved to Ireland to avail of our over generous welfare payments and other benefits. Some of the richest countries in Europe were paying them on average €65.00 per week plus accommodation, medical etc. etc. Here in Ireland they get the same social welfare payment as the natives who are unemployed or on disability benefit - average €232.00 plus full accommodation medical cards etc. etc. paid for by us the taxpayer. The vast majority of them are working full time for cash….you just could not make it up. It's no wonder the Nigerians call Ireland 'Treasure Ireland' (The average weekly wage in Ukraine is between €70.00 & €85.00) They can't wait for the war to end, not so that they can return home but that their partners, families etc can join them here………..the land of milk & honey
Meanwhile the young educated Irish are packing their bags in droves and leaving for Canada, Australia, Middle East etc. etc. not as fake refugees or asylum seekers but because their skills are wanted and valued in those countries and they may be able to afford a house to call their own and a positive future. That says it all really.

How can someone be a fake refugee? A refugee cannot just turn up at the airport without documentation.
A refugee has either
a. Been allowed into Ireland under a recognized refugee program,IRPP, or is a Ukrainian who have temporary status under an EU directive.
b. Applied for asylum and have their application granted.
So no such thing as a fake refugee.
An asylum seeker may destroy or hand back his documents for many reasons, all well covered in different threads on boards. Perhaps they are afraid of handing in fake documents, perhaps the person facilitating their transportation takes back the documents. All in all, it doesn't matter as an asylum seeker does not need to have documentation. As part of their application they are expected to supply all evidence including identification, in order to get a speedy decision.
Also, I very much disagree with your assertion that young Irish people have a better chance of buying property in Canada, the Middle East or Australia, you might have heard they're pretty expensive over there too.
Also, despite your assurance that you did not brand anyone a criminal, you still continued to call them illegal immigrants throughout your post.

Who said I'm naive? The situation is exactly as I stated. If there's chancers in our asylum system, which I'm sure there are, there are chancers in every walk of life, then it's up to the system to fail their application and deport them in a timely manner.
Fake refugees exist in Ireland.

We do have a system, and again, there cannot, by definition be a fake refugee, as refugee status is legally given to someone.
I'm far from naive, and unlike some I understand the law.
There are probably more chancers born here who are gaming the system. You will always get some gaming the system.

Calling an election when Sinn Fein were dealing with scandals seems to have backfired. I wonder if the one off giveaways in the budget will buy the votes as expected or will people see through the cynicism.
