Starting a thread for 2025 gigs as they'll likely start rolling in.
I'll arbitrarily throw in Rob Beckett playing the Olympia on the 26th September 2025 which went on sale today.
Rag n bone man for trinity 3rd July
MBV, wow! That's an announcement
Better go buy some decent earplugs 🤣
The Ticketmaster seating plan has it with the full seats and small standing area...
Picture This for Galway arts festival 21st July
Last year I was away the week of the trinity gigs (it's the first week of the school hols) and wanted to go to most of them
This year I deliberately booked our holidays for the week after and not one of them is for me 🙈🤣
(To be fair, I think they're still a decent set of gigs, just not in my ballpark)
😄😄
First Irish headline show since 1992. Wow.
MBV being on a Saturday and only worldwide show (so far) will probably see a lot of international visitors.
Saxon announced for the Olympia on November 5th
Charlie XCX Malahide is sold out
Lana del rey 30th June2025 Aviva
Get with it man, three people have mentioned this already 😆
Rumour has it Lana Del Rey is going to play the Aviva in June
That's always the way isn't it?!
Gary Barlow playing INEC Killarney on April 20, Waterfront Hall Belfast on April 22 and 23 and the 3Olympia Theatre Dublin on April 25 and 26.
He no longer needs a tour bus as his son will be transporting the gear and crew in one of his hands.
Yes! This is the humour I stay for
Presume he will be charging hefty enough fees for venues that size
Jacob Banks for the Academy April 17th
2025 is most definitely shaping up to be my most expensive year for gigs and also the most oldies i'll have seen in quite some time (Spiritualized X 2, Mogwai, MBV, Primal Scream, Supergrass, Throwing Muses, Napalm Death and BJM). I might usually have 2 gigs per year in and around the €50 bracket so this is really pushing it for me. Hope all these old bastards can do themselves justice.
second night for picture this at the marquee added. cork people get the marquee line up they deserve
Off to a few of these yep. Napalm Death i cant take seriously. Laffed my head off when I saw them.
Playing achtung baby in full I believe.
Could say that about a lot of the outdoor gigs this year tbh. It's not Cork exclusive. There's promoters putting on interesting gigs in St Lukes, Quiet Nights just the weekend gone, Sounds From A Safe Harbour etc. Obviously the mainstream acts will sell more.
Inhaler and Blossoms St Anne's park 30th May
EDIT: Just spotted the above post
Oh, I dunno! I'd love to give them a spin, for the sheer unadulterated crack of it…! Don't they have songs that consist of short bursts of intense noise, just lasting a few seconds?! I seem to remember that, quite improbably, John Peel would sometimes play thier stuff!
Yes. 3 songs in 2 minutes of hilarity here.
Only got one gig booked in for next year so far, Slomosa.
Still waiting to hear about Glastonbury. That will equal if not surpass my life’s spending to date on gigs. But you only live once.
Once I've seen Michael Head next week the total gigs for me in '24 close to 90. That includes festival appearances natch. Still, chunky enough innings.
Great news’s re Inhaler and Blossoms
Really like the Tramlines lineup for what it is
Thats harsh.
Aiken is happen to bank his profit from Springsteen and Garth Brooks over the last few years and take very little risk with most shows.
Its different times now, I guess he cant compete anymore with a capacity of 5k with acts wanting a kings ransom. It doesnt help that MCD are trying to blow him out of it too with Virgin Media Park.
It punched above its weight for a long time, there were some stellar acts I saw there over the years, its sad to see it now.
Festivals are also in decline, the days of getting huge acts on a bill are long over.
sure aiken have lost their wallet on marquee shows in the past. It a big expensive tent that needs to be filled for 20 odd nights in the summer. Kings random plus the growth of festivals/outdoor series across europe means just isn’t enough acts around to swan over to cork. It is probably the best selling edition of LATM in years with 9 out of 18 already sold out
