I think it will be FF/FG again with god knows who. Hopefully a left wing party
It will be November 15th
Irish
Thanks, just found it there myself also
If this materialises, it may well still be FF+FG+2 others
Still opens the door for FF+SF but that is unlikely with MM at the helm
If those poll numbers were to play out in an election it becomes a watershed moment for FF and it won't be lost on those in FF who have to grit teeth to coalesce with FG.
They are extremely worrying for FG, with it being so close to Election day.
No way would FG agree to be a minority partner with FF if it would play out that way which actually does open up the possibility/potential of SF going in to government, something only a week ago i thought wasn't an option
IPsos for IT.
Simon Harris on the ropes now. Fianna Fail could end up as the largest party.
FF were supplicants last time out and basically did what FG wanted them to do. If those poll numbers happen that is no longer the case. This poll was before the Kanturk disaster for Harris too afaik. MLMD did well with the 'SF is the only option if you want a change of govt', they have to get that message out louder this week, 'a vote for independents' is a vote for the same government'.
Fascinating week ahead.
FF are going to be the largest party, without a doubt. The question is, who is in government with them, personally I'd like to see the Soc Dems do well enough to be there, but that means others being involved.
Maybe Micheal might have his own faux pax this week, hit a nun a few slaps, something along those lines, and SF come sweeping by them both 😁
Over estimated FG support and underestimated SF support in last poll of 2020 campaign. Got FF support bang on.
I agree Suvi and that's how i'll be voting, Soc Dem 1, and FF 2 & 3.
FG resonating less and less it seems with the average punter on the street going on the latest poll
Think margin for error. There is 1% between the top two. Nothing is a given. FF could be further ahead or behind
Oddly enough he is still polling highest of the party leaders.
I think some of the drop will be more and more people coming to realise their established FG candidate is not running. It was expected to hurt them but didn't seem to be doing so in the initial polls.
Undecided still the biggest grouping at 28%
Suspect a lot of the movements in party numbers is people who were previously undecided starting to make their minds up. FG’s lack of returning TDs hurts with those type of voters
I have always said the FG poll number was flawed. Roll on Friday.
Can you answer the question please.
Here it is again: The tax haven status was established decades ago. What did FFG do in the last 5 years to help the economy? Name a single policy or legislation.
I have listed all the problems they have caused (housing crisis, traffic chaos, poor public services, poor electricity grid, poor water services, poor healthcare system, massive waste etc)
Some of the final seat potential battles around Dublin are looking like they are a bit eh weird.
Clare Daly/Gerry Hutch - I'd rather Hutch
Coppinger/ROG - I'd sooner take the Devil himself than Coppinger
Rory Hearne/Conor Reddy - Two spoofers
You have to hand it to FG. They have completed rehabilitated FF in a very short time in order to keep the power swap alive.
14 years in power leads to complacency and arrogance and it was on show in full view with their "leader".
You watch any of their TD's on panels and they have an air of arrogance off them (i'll give Pashcal a pass on this)
I would not give Paschal a pass. He is quite stroppy lately. It's like he is regretting running at all with Simon as leader.
FF are dripping in arrogance too. Darragh O'B for example. I can't believe Barry Cowen became an MEP. No better man to milk the gravy train
Doctor Rory Aherne.
You might not feel like that, if you didn't have your own home...
With Independents on around 17.. it looks like the smaller parties could face oblivion and certainly no gains.
Green Party and Labour likely to lose seats, Social Democrats could even lose a seat or two.
This is what Sinn Fein hoped of course.
DOB reeks of arrogance. And sometimes a hint of arrogance isn't a bad thing. But that fella has been utterly useless with his remit. Honestly, i really can't fathom why anyone would give him a vote.
On Paschal, i have always had a soft spot for him. Competent, engaging & intelligent. Meets the brief on what a politician should be in my book. Why he ended up in that horrid party is beyond me
Unfortunately the seat count between ffg will be too even for it to be MM as taoiseach for the entire term...
But I believe the rotating taoiseach option needs to be abolished, largest party in power. gets the position, end of... its way too cosy a set up
You don't know what the make up of the next government will be. I'm starting to get hopeful now that FG will be in opposition
If fg are in opposition, I suppose they could gas light the workers (again), that they will actually look after the taxpayer if they got into power... Lol!!!
That requires FF not to be supplicants to FG. Have they the political courage to re-establish themselves as a distinct offering? Hard to assess but I said way before the campaign began that it will possibly rear it's head within FF.
Doctor indeed. That reminds me of my old doctor, went one day with a pain in my arm many years ago, had a look, he said, just a bit of bruising, told me to rest it and prescribed some painkillers. Long story short, it was broken and required surgery.
Fianna Fail was always favourite to be the largest party, and FG was thought to be just behind them.
But it seems that Fianna Fail are having the better campaign. It seems to be that FG are especially targetted by the opposition. You get the sense that many more people dont like FG over FF. Not sure if this is a Harris thing, or simply he fact that they have had 14 years in government. Most likely the latter I think.
If FG do ok in this election and DO go into government it would be historic, both nationally and internationally.
In saying that, and the public look to a SF/FF/SD/Labour coalition, it will be fireworks and much more unstable. That will concentrate minds going into the last few days.
