Should name them. An outfit that big is a faceless company’s yeah so no idea why you’d be protecting them if true.
Have to say, I’ve never been refused a trade in in EV’s. Lower prices of course but never refused.
There was a lot of bad press on national radio along with falling prices early in 2024 so many dealers were worried about resale values and used stock not selling. VW in particular had a glut of new unsold EV partly due to prices not yet dropped to match competition etc. Many dealers did not want to take the financial risk of stock not moving and devaluing. Many dealers not taking trade ins had used EVs in stock to sell.
New asking prices have been adjusted by VW etc and the used market is settling somewhat but there will be lots of unsold used Teslas for sale with many private sellers asking more than the reality and so they may hang on to their cars and leave them listed on done deal into next year as they can't justify to themselves or their bank loan that their car is now below 20k and supply and demand means potential buyers are opting for new cars and used buyers won't pay the high price along with the worries on our if warranty repairs, depreciation, public charging issues and fear uncertainty and doubt. Many dealers simply would prefer EVs did not exist as they made good margins on ICE and it was a more settled market. Certain models of ICE such as VW golf have a glut on the used market too and less demand than used supply.
1000 cars? I didn't think any dealer in Ireland would have anything in that region
A really bad one might 😂
I was thinking 1000 cars must look like the Liffey valley shopping centre car park
They'd have to sell 4000 a year to turn over stock in 90 days
Would appreciate peoples thoughts on this EV6. Going to take a look at it tomorrow.

They look excellent in white, really stunning car in my opinion. Just don't pay anything like 50 grand for a 24 reg car though
So I'll play devil's advocate here and say that Airside Motor Centre probably has several hundred cars stashed around the place.
There's a bunch of car dealerships in the area and I think they store cars in that lot as a kind of overflow, so it could be close on 1000
But that's doesn't necessarily mean they've 1000 cars for sale
Something doesn’t read right with that posters comments. Why so protective of the garage?
As usual he’ll get the usual “thankers” for posting nonsense, canyousee them?
Sounds like their not very good at selling cars, or else nobody wants to buy ice 🤔
What makes you say I am protecting them?
I simply do not want to say where I am living, which is my right.
There’s no ‘value’ in posting nonsense that a dealer won’t take trade ins, then be afraid to post said dealers company name. A dealer with 1000 cars in stock is not going to give away your personal address for gods sake.
You are correct, there is no value on those types of posts.
What would be a reasonable offer?
Mod Note: Bickering posts removed (where not even tangentially on topic). Take it to PM if you want just want to fling mud at each other. This thread is given more rope than others but there's still a limit.
Try get 5 other similar spec cars on donedeal and go from there. You’ll find the Kia dealers won’t have a lot of play with their prices unless guided from head office. There’s a new EV6 coming in January priced at €51k so play them off that too.
The current EV6 earth special edition can be bought brand new (251 reg) for €44k and that included the 20” wheels, rear heated seats and the GT headlights.
If your buying straight I’d go into them and tell them your buying today and ready to spend 45k. I don’t think you’ll get it at that but see what they let you leave the showroom at. A recent experience in a dealer allowed us to leave over 500e. That proved they couldn’t do any better than the deal that was on the table at that time.
Have been offered a good trade in for a a 251 Earth Model ….49K list price
they are €44.5k to buy straight. Where are you being quoted €49k?
When I had one a lot of people were blown away that it was a full EV, like you mean there's no engine at all 🤯
Also had one or two people ask who made Teslas, as in they thought it was like Fiesta, Golf etc...
Was a few years ago but there are a lot of people that have little interest in cars and definitely wouldn't recognize any EVs except for maybe a Gen 1 Leaf
Thats for a EV6 Earth Special Addition…..that seems to be the list price in all the KIA dealers
I was quoted €44k for a 251 earth special edition this week by Downeys Kia in Port Laois.
Stewart’s in Dublin were €44,500.
I assume there was no trade-in involved in that. Maybe thats why I'm been quoted more. 5K difference!
No trade in. Straight deal alright. Priced €51k for a facelift one too. But that could arrive in January or March. They don’t exactly know.
What are you trading in?
A 231 Kamiq Style
Would it not be worthwhile selling private?
What are they offering?
xx
That's my reason for thinking that the green flash is a good idea. So many people haven't a notion on cars at all, they can just about work out what colour a car is by looking at it. They wouldn't know a Toyota from a Tesla. These are probably the same people who see a Facebook post that says nobody can drive an EV in a rural area and take it at face value
Cheapest Style is 25,950 from a garage so they are not exactly robbing you in fairness.
So your cost to change is €27,000.
I'd call a few other garages and even go into Skoda and see what a similar priced Enyaq (one below for example) would cost to change into be. 1thay way you'll see if Skoda are paying more for their own brand that other dealers buying in other brands, if you get me.

Exactly. People will notice the different numberplate. Much more likely than what make of car it is.
Fear enough if it was mandatory on all ÈVs but if you're that clueless you're likely to go into meltdown if you see 2 Tesla and only one has the green plate
I wont be putting one one. Woke madness!
Are we gona have different colours for petrol or diesel? They are cars, the fuel choice should be irrelevant.
