Moved across this week as I noticed most of those I follow have done and I'm glad to be leaving the shitshow Elon made of Twitter behind.

Bluesky feels like Twitter did a decade ago.

WAY less bots (for now at least), less porn, less MAGA numpties.

Only accounts I'm missing so far are connachtrugby and irishrugby.

I am gradually moving to Bluesky. As before, I will seek to follow folks / organisations on Bluesky whom I would not necessarily agree with or sit down and have a coffee with. It's important to listen to other views and for a dialogue to be conducted with respect - that has been near impossible on X recently.

They are not a large enough platform at present so wouldn't require to abide by DSA.

But with recently updated online safety rules, going to be more stricter with age verification to protect minors.

Twitter back in its good days was decent for research work too. There were many experts in fields present, posting papers and links to interesting work. Comments were mostly worth reading and civil.
However this degenerated to the point of it nearly being unusable. Influx of Bots, removal of moderation, removal of blocking tools, quacks, trolls, and American political adverts and their culture war bs swamped anything worthwhile.

I’ve seen some of these researchers pop up again on Bluesky, so hopefully that continues.
