It reminded me of Fiddler on the Roof -
"There would be one long staircase just going up,
And one even longer coming down?
A neighbor of my parent's house, is the same as it was in the 1930s. The owner is in her 90s, inherited it from parents, never married and has no siblings. It is well kept, regularly painted and was rewired. But it is like stepping back in time. External windows and doors painted green, she has a canvas cover to keep the front door from fading in the summer sun. She even has an original green painted 'cake cooler' outside the back door. Kitchen exactly as it was build, with the addition of a modern electric kettle.
Apologies if posted already. It's nice and modern but not very homely or warm. I wonder was it ever lived in, or just a show house? I doubt that hothub would get much use.

That was here before alright.
if you were to spend that much money on a house, you'd want one which isn't so totally overlooked by another one?
At least you have an uninterrupted view of the sea. And all your big windows are on that side of the house looking out. It's the location too being that close to Galway but in a small village that brings the price up.
re the church conversion mentioned earlier today, this is a better fist of one (apols if mentioned before)

😂😂 I thought the exact same! I wonder what animal it's supposed to be
Hard to describe this one - the interior looks decent but looks like the Architect got carried away with the design. A Celtic Tiger Muck Mansion if ever there was one. Must be a nightmare trying to keep all those windows clean….
Coosan Point, Athlone, Co. Westmeath, N37X0H3 is for sale on Daft.ie
The yacht (J/24?) has not gone anywhere for a fe years, with the hull covered in mold.
That's lovely too but I think they both different styles that would appeal to different buyers. Plus that one has a big lump of a modern extention built on. It is really nice tho.
Ohh that's ugly
The exterior is hideous, and honestly looks like one of those mansions the builders abandoned before it was completed due to running out of funds. The interior is a strange combination of bland and uninspired with the occasional random bit of weirdness for the sake of being weird (like whatever is going on with the ceiling in that last ridiculously oversized bedroom).
my wife commented that it looks like the headquarters of a cult.
Houses like these on this thread fascinate me, its like looking into the past. I can often relate to the decor and furnishings of these houses - takes me back to my folks place.
Price on application.
I won't be applying for that architectural eye burner!
She could be on to something.
I did a Google image search on it and it looks like a wallaby or kangaroo skin, which makes sense given the shape, especially the 'tail'.
I thought someone splat the cat that shát on the mat.
I said it before but, I kinda like this. It's a bit crap in places but I think with a bit of imagination it could be a cool space to live in.
I've been that foreigner. The thing is, the disparity in price between what you seem to get there compared to everywhere else should make you dig a little. Once you dig a little Google quickly starts painting a picture.
There's a 2023 book called 'Cocaine Cowboys' in which this development gets mentioned. I think one of the cowboys actually funded the development.
I don't know if anyone has posted this, but someone took the time to actually refurb one of these places. It is not the worst but you could get a decent place in Wicklow for the same money with neighbours that would worry you less.

Oh I'd have that in a heartbeat! A quarter acre of carpet on top of those abominable shiny tiles on the ground floor, and I'd be sorted.
Love it!
If you some digging on the old internet a bit of a story emerges.
Jesus everyone of the new houses posted today has made an appearance before. Getting forgetful eh!..
Never understand why a developer builds all these (luxury) homes with north facing back gardens when there was ample space to add another road and make them south facing (assuming that Coldwater Lakes road was already there).
That last church conversion - the Waterford one - I like but I'm not getting the step down from kitchen to dining room. Imagine coming down with a heavy casserole in your hands and trying to manage the stairs, especially as you get a bit older.
It isn't the neighbour that would put you off more any unexpected visitors they might have. The owner of that place though is some wellness/guru type.
Yeah, well … it's easier to have your chakra's aligned when you're not having to stress over where your next meal or rent payment is coming from.
