I think it will be FF/FG again with god knows who. Hopefully a left wing party
It will be November 15th
Which taxes did they increase and did the other two parties have no say in the matter?
FFG were always going to approve tax rises in the name of the environment, I am not disputing that. It's the greens lack of self awareness that annoys me. The DRS scheme that no-one wanted for example, when our recycling rates were already on target.
I don't think the Greens have ever said that everyone should get rid of their cars. What they have been encouraging is for us to become less dependant on them (which is a good thing).
Which in most of rural ireland is pretty much impossible.
As for underused bike lanes, are you expecting cyclist traffic jams or what? Personally I would rarely use a cycle lane simply because it would slow me down and I lose priority at junctions (and even at private entrances). Nonetheless, it is clear that many people still are wary of cycling due to the risks (actual or percieved) from drivers. A line of paint on the road won't do much to protect a cyclist especially if that driver is glued to their phone!
So you agree they are ineffective? Personally I would want danger money to cycle in our towns and cities.
Anyway I will leave it there. My prediction was simply they will get decimated. Can anyone think of anything good they have done in government?
All those town and villages who now have a bus route surely got something. Especially considering the massive and ever growing problem of elderly mobility that the other parties are doing nothing for.
It's great to say "I have to drive to work anyway" but it's of huge benefit to kids and elderly (and the families who have to drive them everywhere including having to take time off work)
In the cities Busconnects is also going to bring buses to places that never had them or had sht service.
I bet in years to come what the Greens done will be the one tangible thing will be remembered from this government.
It's the only tangible thing I can think of now, nevermind years to come. I'd also like to see some numbers on what percentage of towns have now got these buses, because I can think of a few that don't.
Oh I'de say even the massive increase in buses is only scratching the surface given how dire the situation was.
my god he’s some clown, aside from his immigration nonsense, he came out with the absolute fantasy that the drug problem is now middle class , completely oblivious to (or intentionally ignoring that it’s the exact same communities /classes ravaged by heroin that are the main customer base of the cocaine flooding Dublin
I'm not a green voter by any means but I've noticed as great improvement in bus service over the last few years.
Now there is a hourly or so bus service in a loop between the major towns in the county, also servicing smaller places along the route.
I've seen busses passing through close to midnight, that's something I never saw before.
My teenage kids can now get the bus to town in the summer or on the weekends and that saves me carrying them.
Just now a double decker passed.
I've never seen a double decker on this road before, I can only imagine it to cover the capacity of students who travel to the local Technological University.
Ya but the junkies are tapping the yummie mummies for change. Making people feel mildly uncomfortable while have some avo and a latte is a big middle class problem.
The Greens probably will fare badly but you'd have to wonder what exactly were those that voted for them 5 years ago expecting? For a minor coalition partner you would have to say they punched well above their weight so do those voters think they didn't do enough in the short COVID hit period or did they think giving a 2nd/3rd preference for a GP candidate was 'doing their bit' for the environment and things should have stopped there?
What have the Greens done to make driving in rural Ireland any harder?
Are you suggesting that RTE are beyond, reproach, review or question? I
Calamity for the Social Democrats.
Their new leader went for the leadership of the party when knowing they were about to get pregnant in an election year.
Is it the first time recent history that the leader of the party isn't around when their manifesto is published. Added to the disastrous performance in the debate last night, people must be wondering is this party fit for office?
I wouldn't harshly judge a party on the fact that the leader is having a baby. Their manifesto is the most important thing
Given what's been uncoved in Rte it's amazing people they shouldn't be given free reign to do what they want. FFG policy of turning a blind eye and not giving a **** about how taxpayers money is spent in public bodies has cost the tax payer billions.
Members of the government can't take time off, ever. If you're unable to do the job 24/7, then choose another profession. Bertie Ahern went straight back to the talks for the Good Fri Agreement after the funeral of his mother .
It shows a sort of arrogance that she chose to be leader of a party when her personal life was about radically change. I'd question her intelligence if anything.
SF vote down 10% in Donegal. In reality it's probably much more.

Sure hasn't Helen taken time off twice for babies and there have been a few more and things just went on .
Hotmail, no offence but you are making a complete fool of yourself. A little respect please.
So the neutral said something clear and concise on X and was immediately jumped on by every Shinnerbot in town, yet you conclude the neutral is wrong?
Her functions got transferred to another minister. You can't have a minister in the government on leave.
Which part do you disagree with? Politics is a rough business. I can only imagine the nervousness of the Social Democrats candidates. Elections don't come around that often.
When did she tell you that she knew she was going to get pregnant?
Shinnerbots everywhere! Say boo about the governing parties your a shinnerbot. You and mark have anointed this guy as a 'neutral' because you like what he said in the same way as everyone saying something you don't like is appointed 'shinnerbots'.
Never gets tired.
I think your misogynistic viewpoint is unwelcome in a modern democracy. Soon you'll be telling us that a man would do the job better 🙄
Get a grip will you. How about the part where you used Bertie as the benchmark.
There is enough misogyny on Boards without you labouring the point (excuse the pun). Cairns is a better politician than most of the TDs in FFGG.
Oh that's a bland response - misogyny. It's her absence is the issue - nothing to do with her gender.
It was a canvassing team for Aontu. The candidate wasn't at the door, just some of the team.
It's difficult for me to judge how good she is as she is largely absent from the campaign, even from her own manifesto launch.
Ok.
why odd? The greens answer to everything was tax tax tax. I’d say their actions over the last 5 years was more off putting- it certainly was to me. Also they are the greatest hypocrites ever - remember Ryan wanting to fly home for 14 hours just to cast a vote of confidence in the Kildare Street gravy train.
The absence is due to her gender - only women are entitled to maternity leave.
Complaining about a woman taking maternity leave from a job is misogyny, full stop.
