I think it will be FF/FG again with god knows who. Hopefully a left wing party
It will be November 15th
Members of the government can't take time off, ever. If you're unable to do the job 24/7, then choose another profession. Bertie Ahern went straight back to the talks for the Good Fri Agreement after the funeral of his mother .
It shows a sort of arrogance that she chose to be leader of a party when her personal life was about radically change. I'd question her intelligence if anything.
Given what's been uncoved in Rte it's amazing people they shouldn't be given free reign to do what they want. FFG policy of turning a blind eye and not giving a **** about how taxpayers money is spent in public bodies has cost the tax payer billions.
I wouldn't harshly judge a party on the fact that the leader is having a baby. Their manifesto is the most important thing
Calamity for the Social Democrats.
Their new leader went for the leadership of the party when knowing they were about to get pregnant in an election year.
Is it the first time recent history that the leader of the party isn't around when their manifesto is published. Added to the disastrous performance in the debate last night, people must be wondering is this party fit for office?
Are you suggesting that RTE are beyond, reproach, review or question? I
Which in most of rural ireland is pretty much impossible.
What have the Greens done to make driving in rural Ireland any harder?
The Greens probably will fare badly but you'd have to wonder what exactly were those that voted for them 5 years ago expecting? For a minor coalition partner you would have to say they punched well above their weight so do those voters think they didn't do enough in the short COVID hit period or did they think giving a 2nd/3rd preference for a GP candidate was 'doing their bit' for the environment and things should have stopped there?
Ya but the junkies are tapping the yummie mummies for change. Making people feel mildly uncomfortable while have some avo and a latte is a big middle class problem.
I'm not a green voter by any means but I've noticed as great improvement in bus service over the last few years.
Now there is a hourly or so bus service in a loop between the major towns in the county, also servicing smaller places along the route.
I've seen busses passing through close to midnight, that's something I never saw before.
My teenage kids can now get the bus to town in the summer or on the weekends and that saves me carrying them.
Just now a double decker passed.
I've never seen a double decker on this road before, I can only imagine it to cover the capacity of students who travel to the local Technological University.
my god he’s some clown, aside from his immigration nonsense, he came out with the absolute fantasy that the drug problem is now middle class , completely oblivious to (or intentionally ignoring that it’s the exact same communities /classes ravaged by heroin that are the main customer base of the cocaine flooding Dublin
Oh I'de say even the massive increase in buses is only scratching the surface given how dire the situation was.
I bet in years to come what the Greens done will be the one tangible thing will be remembered from this government.
It's the only tangible thing I can think of now, nevermind years to come. I'd also like to see some numbers on what percentage of towns have now got these buses, because I can think of a few that don't.
All those town and villages who now have a bus route surely got something. Especially considering the massive and ever growing problem of elderly mobility that the other parties are doing nothing for.
It's great to say "I have to drive to work anyway" but it's of huge benefit to kids and elderly (and the families who have to drive them everywhere including having to take time off work)
In the cities Busconnects is also going to bring buses to places that never had them or had sht service.
Which taxes did they increase and did the other two parties have no say in the matter?
FFG were always going to approve tax rises in the name of the environment, I am not disputing that. It's the greens lack of self awareness that annoys me. The DRS scheme that no-one wanted for example, when our recycling rates were already on target.
I don't think the Greens have ever said that everyone should get rid of their cars. What they have been encouraging is for us to become less dependant on them (which is a good thing).
As for underused bike lanes, are you expecting cyclist traffic jams or what? Personally I would rarely use a cycle lane simply because it would slow me down and I lose priority at junctions (and even at private entrances). Nonetheless, it is clear that many people still are wary of cycling due to the risks (actual or percieved) from drivers. A line of paint on the road won't do much to protect a cyclist especially if that driver is glued to their phone!
So you agree they are ineffective? Personally I would want danger money to cycle in our towns and cities.
Anyway I will leave it there. My prediction was simply they will get decimated. Can anyone think of anything good they have done in government?
Increase taxes. They are pretty much-anti car…bike lanes taking away from road space
What exactly were you expecting from the Green Party? Drill Baby Drill?
That's a blinkered view imo. Don't get me wrong, i want 3 of the current Greens out of the dail sharp and lively but to say the tax increases (any of them) are all on them is wrong
The greens were a good mudguard for FFG, but many of the measures blamed on them were actually nothing to do with the greens. Carbon tax rises were set in stone by previous governments, even if Greens weren't in the carbon tax would still be set to rise.
And it will continue to do so with the next non-green government
The Greens got in because they were a "reasonable" alternative to FF/FG. What did the Greens do with that? Increase taxes. They are pretty much-anti car, which in large parts of the country is impossible. Underused bike lanes taking away from road space.
Mod: Nope - I couldn't care less if @TracyMartell is referring to an embryo, foetus, tapeworm or simply some bacteria - we are not going there at all!!!!!
No. No, I don't.
But perhaps you'd like to expand on 'completely separate'?
I was talking to a FF canvasser. No green issues are coming up at the doorsteps despite the COP meeting and monster rains in Spain. Zero interest in climate change. Seems kinda odd.
Aragh stop. No fan of SF but RTE objectivity definitely needs a review. Internal and External coverage. They're even more pro FFG after their bailout. FFG refused to do any reform of RTE despite all the revelations. More waste. FFG rewarded waste and corruption. Is Dee Forbes better yet? No one accountable again, what a surprise.
When Harris actually passes the Occupied Territories Bill, he can talk about Gaza and the genocide.
My only prediction is that the greens will get absolutely decimated. All of their policies seem to just inconvenience people.
Green taxes for various different things and what have we gotten in return?
SF has put in black and white, that they want to censor RTE.
These lads think they live in Russia or China.

For context, the Apple money would cover approximately 6 months of the HSE budget, a lottery win it is not.
The debate did change my mind a bit. I was on the fence as to whether to vote Aontu but I will be voting for them now as well as FF
"MSM"
The Trump talking point.
you mean the completely separate body inside your own?
The boundaries re-drawn will have potentially scuppered his chances. Some of his votes are gone over to Dublin mid-west, and the more affluent Terenure & Templeogue brought in
