I think it will be FF/FG again with god knows who. Hopefully a left wing party
It will be November 15th
Are you sure you're not confusing shouting with shooting?😁
I thought Simon Harris was very funny tonight. He came out with some funny little remarks against Mary Lou.
MLMD can certainly shout, but not coming across well. Obviously thinks shouting gets votes.
MLMD started extremely weakly but is recovering now. Bit late in the last half hour though.
I’d probably give all of SD, SF, FG, FF, Lab and Green a higher preference than I’d give to Aontu on election day - but credit to Tobin he’s been the strongest tonight by a good margin.
I think Shortall would have been good despite the fact she is leaving politics.
Cian O Callaghan is trying his best but a bit lightweight.
Presume as deputy leader the slot defaults to him after Holly but I would've thought Gary Gannon was a more accomplished and experienced media performer…
He's far more impressive than MLMcD.
If he was leader of the main opposition party, he'd be a far bigger threat to the incumbents.
Maybe he never would have made it to leader though...
I think they are doing OK. They are not knocking the ball out of the park but neither are they being knocked out of the park. SF not looking like as an option for governnent and that is where the game is.
Cian O Callaghan is trying his best but a bit lightweight. Micheal Collins is doing OK. RBB a good speaker but PBP is not going to have a significant number of TD's. Ivanaka and are Lou struggling with the boys
Sadly for him/them these kind of barnstorming performances probably only reinforce the impression of the 'party' as a one-man band…
Hannon to Martin: "Why are you briefing off the record that it's time to leave the Greens behind?"
Why do presenters put questions like this to pols, especially wily old ones like Martin: surely they know from experience they're just going to get batted away?
Martin and Harris trying to take credit for Green policy while recently stabbing Greens in the back.
Tobin wanted a free vote on it. Back in the day. SF shot themselves in the foot by insisting on imposing a whip on the issue. Definitely a loss for SF as a future leader considering his performance here tonight
What does Harris keep looking at? He’s looks nervous and out of his depth here to be honest.
This SD stand-in leader looks absolutely terrified
Tobin and Boyd Barrett hammering the need to reduce VAT and the hypocrisy of FG protecting big businesses on this really well. Harris and Martin look like clowns.
Jaysus the Aontu lad is having a stormer. Imagine if he got a few TDs behind him.
Would they ever speak to some of the other candidates ffs
Hannon’s doing well here tbh
”Mentally stabbed”— Harris has lost the plot, chap is completely rattled
Roderic O'Gorman thinks the UK Covid Inquiry was a circus.
The Micheal/Simon attack tag team is having a bit of a mare.
Has Simon Harris seen some bad private polling?
Aontu guy is winning for sure.
Simon is coming across as arrogant.
Small parties not getting much airtime. That's what an RTE bailout gets you.
This baby saving policy from Fine Gael has the potential to completely backfire.
There was a draw made.
Simon’s ‘there was no bailout’ moment. That is gonna stick to him like glue.😁😁
The point someone tried to make and fail (after coming on as some sort of floating voter but got caught) was that the current government was causing housing issues due to being exposed to property.
Now (and resist the urge to contrarian this) SF are in fact the largest property owner in the Dáil with assets outstripping all other parties and TD (i.e. they have a vested interest in high prices) and when they have had the opportunity to make change here, they have failed utterly, building less properties than the current incumbents (unsure if all other parties + TD combined have less property than SF).
Now, I think this is down to their incompetence and policies that don't add up, but I certainly can't claim that their lower exposure to property makes them better as that patently is not the case.
Is there guys positioned in any particular order?
Green Party want a new bank holiday for July and a 4 day working week.
Auction politics election.
Nice dig about where were Sinn Fein for 100 years.
