So the new Karate Kid movie looks like it will be a mix of the original and the Will Smith's sons reboot.
New ‘Karate Kid’ Movie to Unite Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio
Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio, who starred in separate “Karate Kid” films decades apart, will unite for a brand new movie set in the martial arts franchise.
The new movie, from Sony Pictures, director Jonathan Entwistle and writer Rob Lieber, will premiere in theaters on Dec. 13, 2024. Karen Rosenfelt is producing.
Plot details are kept under wraps on the new movie, but Macchio will reprise his role as Daniel LaRusso, whom he played in the original “Karate Kid” film trilogy starting in 1984 and brought back on Netflix’s “Cobra Kai” series. Chan will return to the role of Mr. Han, a kung fu master based on Mr. Miyagi, who coached Jaden Smith’s Dre Parker in the 2010 remake movie
This is weird. It's this the film that the Cobra Kai makers said they had no part of? Weird that Ralph would sign on if so. Sounds like it might be separate from Cobra Kai. Don't need to be capitalising on the Netflix show, not isolating fans.
Season 6 has started filming.
The end of a legacy deserves a grand finale. 15 episodes. A three-part event. It all begins July 18.
Final season part 1 trailer.
Part 1 drops July 18th.
Part 1 drops tomorrow.
Two episodes in.
As much as I've enjoyed this show, it's a struggle. Definitely running on fumes
Umph.
I sat down to watch this today and realised. I have no idea what is happening or what happened in the earlier seasons. Can anyone catch me up?
With Kreeses and Silver gone. I am not sure where they can go. Johnny and Danny fighting each other again. The kids fighting each other again? Mr Miyagis ghost hanging out with them and then setting up a rival dojo. No thanks.
With all that said. For a show that is basically pretty much a YA show aimed at Gen Z. That could have been a one note/season joke. It has been a fun ride. But time for it to end.
Put it out of it's misery.
What is broken up into three "events". No thanks. Viewership is going to drop off a cliff.
Finished that batch of episodes tonight.
The show has never been perfect, but all its worst elements have really ramped up here. Very disappointing, some seriously contrived strings woven together, and some outrageous inconsistencies in character decisions. Daniel in particular is a walking paradox, but they all flip flop with gleeful predictability, without as much as a moments pause.
Hmmm was gonna save this til all released - said it before with a previous season it needs to just end on the high before doing the same over and over again
It's pretty much as expected at this stage; all issues between characters previously resolved have re-occured…. again. We defeated Cobra Kai oh wait a minute they're back…. again. We don't have enough female students to have more than one rivalry so Tori has to become evil…. again (though in fairness, that was the most engaging part of these episodes).
This really isn't a show with enough actual drama and suspense, six season in, to have the final season split into 3 parts. That's just f*cking stupid. I get splitting it a bit because of the whole streaming model and wanting to keep people subscribed for a few months rather than dip in for a month, back for another month later etc, but this show as popular as it is just doesn't warrant it.
I'm just surprised at Amanda. After getting the news, she let Danny and Johnny deal with Tori after we've seen the relationship between the 2 of them before. Why wasn't she going to her to try and comfort her? Or go to her after she ran out?
And now if the next part is going to be all set at the tournament can nearly predict what will happen. Danny and Johnny arguing over training, Robby and Miguel arguing who should be in the final match after Robby loses to that new Cobrai Kai guy earlier in the tournament. The fighting between Sam and Tori. And then between Danny/Johnny and Kreese. And how many of these conflicts will be due to misunderstandings like previous episodes? Oh and not forgetting Demetri and Hawk.
*Complex set of challenges from impartial sensei in order to be completely unbiased in picking the top six*
*Tori leaves and there's now a spot open*
"Ah f*ck it…. Hawk you're in!"
I assume it was because he was one of the final four and Kenny wasn't there. But the fact it was so sudden. Didn't even give Tori a couple minutes to come back or find her and talk to her about if she was fit to go.
Instead it was "Oh your mother died? Well that means you can no longer be captain and can't even go to the tournament at all"
I have to agree once Hawk didn't make it and Kreese turned up it was obvious what was going to happen.
I agree something will happen and Miguel will win it and get into Standford.
Tori will become good again and throw the fight.
Hawk will get into MIT and Johnny and Daniel will stay best friends.
I will stick with it because I invested in 5 seasons, but it's hard watching something when it's so predictable what will happen.
Hey maybe we will be proved wrong and things will play out differently.
Did they always say sh1t so much in the earlier seasons?
Have they ever said whether the new film will tie into the series or is it standalone?
I can just picture Screen Rant Pitch Meeting poking hole in this series.
After resolving her issues with Sam, and then suffering a major tragedy, it makes no sense she doesn't contact her boyfriend, at the very least, for support.
As for Robbie, knowing Kreese is knocking around, he doesn't get anyways suspicious when Tori falls out of contact before and after the captain's fight.
Speaking of unresolved death issues, Daniel really needs to let Mr Miyagi go. Maybe that's why this mystery box story is in it ( though I doubt they'll tarnish Miyagi's legacy, reckon he took the fall for the assault and robbery for someone else). Dick Daniel back because of it.
I think the writers tied themselves in knots this season trying to stretch it out to three parts. Really struggling to come up with conflict stories
I doubt at this stage they'll bring Hillary Swank into the show.
I though the tournament would be the plot to bring her in.
Kreese and co play dirty and convince the organisers that a female sensei was needed for female contestants to thwart Miyagi Do, so Daniel reaches out to her character
didnt know xolo and jacob have a youtube podcast https://www.youtube.com/@lonelobosofficial/videos
William Zabka has probably been the most interesting /fun character in the cobra Kai show. Having another KK movie without him, while understandable , makes seems kind of boring.
Karate Kid: Legends
At least there is no sign of Will Smiths kid being in it. Filming wraped and there will be a panel at NYCC next week.

Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Looks to be playing into all the same trappings of Part 1 (which was comfortably the weakest stretch of episodes to-date) with every single plot contrivance being played.
Wrestling keeps it's faces/heels more consistent. And Tory's most recent return to Cobra Kai still makes no sense, nor does the fact they only found out about it right on the first day of the event.
The next 5 episodes dropped today.
will have to finish it but not really bothered either...
Utter utter garbage, just so ridiculously bad, I genuinely hope I forget about it before the last episodes drop.
Was wondering how they were going to get a brawl into these episodes with everyone keeping their heads.
And of course was torn when it was the Irish against Miyagi-Do.
It's awful, but some times it just about crosses into hilariously awful.
