Leinster club championship looks very open this year. Thomastown, na fianna, kilcormac killoughey plus the winners of St martins naas will all fancy their chances. Going to westmeath could be tricky for ttown but I'm sure they'll get through it. If na fianna get to croke park the open spaces there will suit them.
Intermidiate looks similarly open and lisdowney winning it is no foregone conclusion. Bray emmets are an experienced team and won leinster 2 years ago. Then there's traditional hurling clubs like rathnure and borris kilcotton.
Na Fianna will be hard stopped in Leinster, they were the better team v OLG in last years final.
Sean Currie and Donal Burke are two serious forwards to have. Wexford clubs seem to be seriously underperform in Leinster.
Leinster Camogie finals on also.
WWalLy announcing his retirement,we won't have many from our last aall Ireland win soon.
TJ turns 37 tomorrow. I know Tony Browne played Munster championship when he was 40, but that’s some commitment by TJ considering the huge demands in the modern game.
Best of luck to Wally in his retirement, at times a much maligned player for sections of our fan base but I always thought he offered a lot and never let us down, he'll always be remembered for making his debut in the 2012 final and getting man of the match that day. Probably the right time to go but a great servant down through the years for us.
It’s a shame to see Wally go I thought he might have given it one more year
A big crowd favourite there was always a buzz in the crowd when he came off the bench and the first high ball came down on top of him
Not the most stylish hurler but very effective always seemed to miss the easy point but nailed the difficult one out along the side line then the big roar went up
Always seemed to move faster with the ball than with out it and was hard to stop in full flow
Best of luck to him in retirement he’s given us some great days
Did he set up or score the goal to get the draw in Croke park against Waterford in 2015 or 2016 I never jumped out of the seat as quick 🤣🤣
A great athlete and had a very good career. Can be proud of himself. Absolutely could have gone another year but the right call was made and we need to invest in the future. Still a lot to offer for his club who are really going places
100% my only worry would be that if we lose all the older brigade together that e Murphy might pack it in also if all the others go
Well said. A great servant and that 2012 final will live long in the memory. Good few retirements in last few years now
He scored the goal in the 2016 semi final to get us back in a game we were really struggling in, if memory serves me right a brilliant (and rare) point by Conor Fogarty levelled that game with what must have been the last puck of the game.
That was it I knew he had some Involvement
Well done to Wally on many years of great service.
He's back playing rugby and scoring tries in New Ross already seemingly.
I was just thinking the same but there's actually serious competition for the goal now and the puckouts won't help Murphy.
Fair play to wally great servant and always liked the wexford games. Finding the next wally or hogan is the task for Lyng.got out without injuries and can enjoy club hurling with a few talented chaps coming through and twins at home.
Penalty after penalty after penalty. Brain dead stuff
Must be on the wrong thread there blackcard! I enjoy your posts anyways 🤣🤣
I think murphy has his faults but he’s a fabulous leader and unreal at keeping the ball out of the net which in my eyes is still a keepers main job
If we have a proper game plan going forward and bit of movement from our forwards I wouldn’t worry about his puckouts
We do have plenty of Options in the position but the other keepers are very good but inexperienced at the moment
Your losing a lot of experience and calmness if e Murphy was to leave the dressing room
I would say the rugby forum was confused when I wrote about Wally being good under a high ball
I've never seen him play rugby but I've no doubt it's true there too.
I remember in 2012 a friend of mine put a bet on him to win the motm when he saw him named. We were out in Dublin the following week celebrating with the winnings when who should we meet in the pub only Walter himself (and Buckley...also met Marty Morrissey the same night). Sure we had to get him a pint then, since he had paid for the whole night out.
Best of luck to him in retirement, was a great servant of the county, but it's time to freshen up the panel, Clare match made that clear.
Freshford beat Crumlin 5-20 to 1-07
Lisdowney won 3-23 to 1-10
Windgap/Galmoy beaten by Erin’s Own after extra time which should put a smile on some of the Kilkenny hurling supporters.
Some on here demanded Windgap/Galmoy play in Roinn A. Combination teams are at a huge disadvantage. Take Billy Drennans 16 pts away and remainder scored 4 pts between them. Comer having a great year and Michael Brennan went to town for them scoring 1.13. All four teams left in Roinn B in with a chance. Very even teams in this grade, most very young and a very enjoyable competition .Doubt any of them would puck it out to the Village or Boro and shouldn't be forced in there to boost numbers.
Great scoring for this time of year. Well done to both teams and hopefully Thomastown will complete the trio of results.
Galmoy windgap played with 14 for a good chunk of the game. Did well to draw in normal time. Comer have been in Roinn A at u16 and minor last few years. Shane Coogan, and brennan very good forwards. Gerry Drennan on commentary fairly critical of some his own players and the ref lol..
Most of the teams in A can't keep it pucked out to the village or dicksboro either.
Thomastown being outworked over the last 15 minutes of that half.
That number 15 for Castle is some lad to get stuck in for a small man.
A man down and sticking with short puck outs and short hand passes.
No offence to Castletown but this looks like another embarrassing result for KK hurling.
Thomastown’s handling has been awful all game. Full back line can’t get to grips with O’ Brien or O’ Reilly. Look way off the pace
The first touch of Thomastown is fairly bad, the pitch isn't helping either, it's in shocking condition.
