Went into Homebase yesterday and whatever you buy, they ain’t refunding it as the company that owns it is in liquidation. The Range allegedly is going to take it over?
Has Margaret's Cafe closed?
Closed as 'Margaret's cafe' a good while now. It's now called 'The Works Cafe' & run by different owners & has different hours.

As in closed a few months as Margaret's Cafe?……what's the new place like?……Margaret's Cafe did a great breakfast.
it’s really nice. Deserves to do well. I’ve been there for breakfast a few times and it’s delicious. The service is excellent too.
a few years now as margarets

That's very unfortunate for the owners. Being honest, how many people are interested in skating? It was huge in the 90's but the demand isn't there anymore. I'm sorry for the owner and his business but it was always unsustainable as a business model.
A while before Christmas I spotted that McDermott's gift shop were having a closing down sale. I haven't been in town since to see if they have closed down by now or not. Of course some shops have regular 'closing down' sales but I hadn't noticed one here before.
could be a bleak few months coming up
Murray's Spar in Ballydoogan closing this Friday Jan 17th. Owners retiring after 52 years. The expansion of the shop near to them opposite the Showgrounds to a large Centra happened a few years ago too.
The American candy shop in The Canopy is gone, they were clearing out stock on Sunday morning. Spotted someone cleaning inside the Bubble Tea unit which has also closed so I wonder if someone else is lined up to take that?
Also the pop up shops that were in a glass unit in The Canopy are also gone - as in the glass unit is completely gone. so some more changes afoot there.
The pop up shops are down for the moment, as Friz will be working on a mural there. I've covered it on the blog. The Bubble Tea unit was being used by The Wellness Shop for hampers before Christmas, and Nuggies (American Candy) has gone nationwide.
Not a shop but Fiddler's Creek bar have announced that they will be closing down next weekend
The guys who own The Garavogue have bought the Fiddlers, it will be refurbed and continue as a bar/restaurant.
Heard that, its a well establish spot, so good news
McMorrows shop on the Cairns Road has closed. Mr McMorrow himself retired a while ago and it was taken over but has now closed.
Noticed the Turk Grill beside Gracie's on Grattan St has been closed for a while.
The reason why is a closure order from Food Safety Authority.
Had an awful meal in there a couple of years ago, so I'm not surprised. No plans on going back!
It's probably changed hands 4 or 5 times since you last ate there, but I don't think it's ever been reputable.
Looks like a local Sligo business is hanging up their apron, never had her cakes but they always looked yummy
Miss Suzy seems to have had a fire in their kitchen and are closed for the foreseeable future. Hopefully they will be able to reopen
