In the part of the world I live in the phrase "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth" is well known as a quotation from the Old Testament. You might have heard of it, it's that series of texts written by Jewish people back in the distant past. Try reading Exodus, Chapter 21, verses 23 onwards - it's all there. There's plenty on how to treat your slaves too. Lovely people aren't they?
Regarding the Koran. Given that there were plenty of Jewish tribes in Arabia in his day, Muhammad would have been well familiar with them and their practices. The book contains much that was plagiarised from earlier religions, Judaism and Xtianity mainly, along with various other sources and some of Muhammad's own thoughts which may or may not have been original - so it is hardly a great shock that he copied the Lex Talionis over from the Jews.

No action will be taken against Israel. Israel will expel the Palestinians and settle Gaza. Israeli society is becoming more and more extreme as the population of the right wing extremists increases and the more moderate members of society emigrate. I think in practice slavery, and the slave trade, were tolerated in the Ottoman Empire right up to its final collapse in the 20th century. It was the British who put an effective stop to it.
There’s even a neighbourhood in Gaza called the Slave Quarter, Al-Abid, where people of black ancestry, descendants of slaves, traditionally live.
This has been explained elsewhere. Locals are angry with the Dutch police about how the incidents were handled last week and how only local youths in Amsterdam were charged with disorder, but none of the visiting Israeli hooligans / thugs.
