Yea the flavour is really nice, and I love pain in the face hot, these are serious
Not bad at all, for a supermarket sauce (lacks in the complexity of small batch).
Thickish, very smokey and sweet, nice kick, but nothing too extreme for us.
M&S VIVA Naga Chilli Sauce
Finally opened these. Very nice, particularly the Samson.
Made the sauces today.
Both were fermented with garlic. The red had some red fruits jam and cider vinegar added. The green had ginger and lime juice added. A little xantham gum went in both. I didn't heat the sauce this time so we'll see how it keeps.
Very happy with both 😊
Went for a hot sauce Friday treat again today, hash browns and chicken dippers, used these three sauces.
we also had one called, pain in the hole hot sauce.
you can find them all here. we must go for one million Scoville's, pain in the face hot. love it.

The pain in the face doesn't last as long as the pain in the hole.
We can't do this at work, but apparently if you drink some sambuca afterwards, the burn isn't as bad.
I imagine this Friday ritual being like the hand in the box scene in Dune.
"What's in the bottle?"
"Pain"

In response to the pain, your brain releases endorphins and dopamine. Combined, these chemicals create euphoria similar to "runner's high".

🤣🤣That's the trio I got. Work must be some craic for you
went nuts, ordered a few bottles for this Friday..
https://firebyrd.ie/product/melindas-scorpion-pepper-hot-sauce/ this one is the hottest they have.
Harissa is solid. I've got this particular stuff in a tube. It's not salty or vinegary or anything just adds chili hotness. Need to be careful enough it's quite hot.
Can be homemade too, not too elaborate.

OK, we tried these this morning, at the half 10 tea break. not for the faint hearted, but the hottest one we found was this one.
https://firebyrd.ie/product/devil-dog-carolina-reaper-blackberry-lemon-thyme/
the ones rated at 1 million and 2 million weren't that hot, they did burn but noting the devil Dog.
we also brought in these ones, we consider these to be hot, but the Devil Dog surpassed them.

we have tried all of these bar 1, the piri piri hot sauce,
Harissa is neither hot nor a sauce, imo. It's more comparable to tomato puree, only with peppers, rosewater and some aromatics.
I love it, but I've never come across one I'd consider remotely hot, especially not the Le Phare du Bon Cap one in your picture (which is an excellent harissa).
Do you actually enjoy these or is it just a competition amongst you? Personally, the upper reaches of Crazy Bastard's regular range are as far as i want to go really. I find them hot and tasty but i can't slather them on food the way i might with other sauces. The superhot sauces don't appeal to me. I want heat and flavour but not have my tastebuds burnt off with a tiny amount.
Same, I don't find harissa a particularly hot ingredient, more fragrant perhaps, with a little kick of heat.
In that vein, I do like my sambals, but they can be very salty.
That's a fairly fragrant harissa, as is Al'Fez, heavy on the star anise.
I tend to dilute those in olive oil and use as a dipping condiment.
Belazu Rose harissa must be one of my favourites though.
I don't like Al'Fez, find it too heavy on the rose water and too runny, consequently. PdBC is my go-to, but the Tesco one used to be excellent too. They don't seem to make it anymore though. I must look out for Belazu.
Hello, we wanted to try super hot, just to see, but I agree with you, the crazy bastard range of normal hot sauces are enough, the super hots are not for pouring over nuggets, they burn a lot. We do go for flavour and heat, we will be taking a break from this Friday ritual. Happy Christmas.
Got some more of this. One of my favourite mid priced sauces. Really gets the saliva flowing!
La Anita sauces are great. I brought about 4 of these packs home from Mexico with me last year.
Slightly off topic…….chills I came across growing wild, roadside, Philippines in the province (as they say here). Blew my head off 🔥🔥🔥
(taking these home)
Ooh, would they be similar to Thai / bird's eye? They look a lot plumpier though. Good idea to bring them home!
Delighted to see Tesco now stocking El Yucateco, their jalapeno hot sauce is class
Using their Habanero & grilled pineapple and their Chile Chipotle at the moment. Very nice indeed.
Available in Supervalu as well
I'd bring some home, but don't forget to check if its legal ;-) Importing them for the seed is almost definitely illegal, so bad idea to say you've got them to try growing them. Importing to eat is more likely to be OK?
I think it very much depends on where you are bringing them. I don't think Irish customs take that kind of stuff very seriously, in practice, but Australia, on the other hand, take that kind of stuff very seriously and you could wind up in trouble.
I'm imagining 25 years from now and Planet X's Filipino chillies will have taken over swathes of Ireland's countryside 😂
Excellent news. I shall pop in to the local one over the weekend. Hopefully they have it in stock.
Of course they’re for eating 😀. Watched too much Bruce Heller at Dublin Airport Customs Controls on YT. He takes no prisoners 😀😀.
Is there a rule of thumb on using out of date hot sauce? Specifically from Mic's Chilli....if it tastes ok then that's all that matters, yeah?
