Is it a used car? Did you buy directly from Polestar or if you bought it privately, was that the issue? Maybe Polestar wiped their hands of it.
6 month old car direct from Polestar. 1900km on it when bought. I think the problem is Polestar support are genuinely slow and sloppy in the way they handle issues and outside of the one dealer in Dublin the service centres aren't really bothered (understandably as they don't sell them). After dropping the bones of 50k on a car that's not really on to be honest.
It’s understandable if Volvo service centres have no reason to care if Polestar survives or not. They can probably see more of a direct benefit if they left the Irish market.
To be honest you're more like a thorn in the service centres side is the impression I got anytime I had to bring it in to be looked at (and it was a lot of times funnily enough as Polestar are so disorganised). If they separate from Volvo completely I can't see why they would stay in Ireland unless they plan on opening up other locations.
I'm thinking of changing to EV so I took a P2 for a short test drive during the week. It's a lovely car inside. They had good few of the pre-facelift model in stock and they seem to be good value.
I would be moving from a 2015 3 series estate. Would it make more sense to sell that privately? I got the impression from talking to the salesman that people are generally disappointed/surprised by the lower trade in values they are offering. Also there didn't seem to be any wiggle room on the advertised prices
Were they offering the 0% PCP?
Yeah, not much point trying to get a good trade-in from them. Don't think they're really set up for it and have to go through Spirit which puts another layer in there.
It always makes more sense to sell privately if you don’t mind the hassle factor. You should get a trade in price from them anyway though. If nothing else, it’ll give you a guide as to what you should be advertising it at.
Th
They said they had it on some models but didn't really give a lot of details on which ones. I didn't really push it either to be fair. I'll need to check if I'm going to go further with it
I got offered €17k trade in off them which was fairly poor but didn't fancy selling privately and ended up selling it to zucar for €18k which worked out great with zero hassle. They are a car buying crowd owned by Joe duffy
Thanks for that suggestion. I'll look into that. I've no interest in the hassle from a private sale and the test pilots who want to go for a spin
Unless that Beemer was an absolute peach, I’d say you’ve done well. €18K seems very strong money for a 3 series that’s almost 10 years old.
No I didn't have a BMW
My mistake. Reply was meant for Ociarba.
I don't have a trade in value yet but if I was offered 18k I'd snap their hands off! 😀
What do people think? Is 41k for a 231 Performance with the plus pack a fair price?
Yep. I paid 55k for one in March. Linky?
That was for a 231 also? No, yours was new! I was thinking it was a reasonable price, now I think it's a really good one

There’s a 221 at €36k to give you an idea on what it may be worth next year. Id say you’d get that low 30’s too.

Considering there’s a facelift out now, and the 221 and 231 are the same car, I’d save the money and buy a 221 assuming all things being equal (condition and spec).
Are you looking at the black one in Spirit?

Yeah, been keeping an eye on that on too. Been up since August, started at €40k. 2 drops since. Bit nervous of a private purchase though for a car over €30k.
But I think that one has the full pilot too, with the matrix headlights
Yeah mine's a 231 too. Expected the price to drop when the new one came out, and sure enough it has. Although mine had only 6k on it when I bought it, 21k now. You won't go wrong, great car, completely trouble free and very very powerful. You won't get the advertised range since it's got all the extra power from the upgrade (that little square sticker on the grill), but I've easily got 350km in the summer. Heading more towards 320km in the winter.
Found it there on DD, like the colour. Also a 221 in Greystones for 36k.
Make sure the car history is good and there’s as little risk privately. Remember, spirit will be giving you the polestar warranty, same as the private sale.
Oh, I thought they were about 55k new?
It's the blue one I'm after (didn't link it till I reserved it 😁 )

I like the wheels too.
They were closer to 75k new in 2023. New model is a lot more realistic at 60k. And that's got the 82kWh battery.
But it'll be a year longer.
Have never bought privately, how do you ensure the car is finance free for example? I'm sure many people sell and it's still being financed and they can't pay if off till it's sold. So how do you protect yourself?
The likes of Cartell will give you that info afaik.
The warranty is 3 years and carries over to the new owner. It's also extendable for a very reasonable cost. You also have free servicing for the 3 years from new and free T-Mobile connectivity.
Ahh, ok that makes sense. Explains the drop so.
It does, but I would expect most cars in the range to still show as being financed.
And yes, had checked the extended warranty (after lots of back and forth), it is very reasonable. €1 a day for 3 years.
Is the T-Mobile for life or 3 years?
If it were me I'd get the blue one. Mine's white, which is nice, but a bugger to keep clean. You'll also have the extra year's warranty and servicing etc. Think the first service is around 30k, haven't had mine yet.
