Thanks for the quick response. No, it wasn't an attack on Catholics. Last night, as noted by the Dutch authorities, groups of thugs went around looking for people who were Israeli or Jewish. They were asking to see people's passports. If you were an Israeli or a Jew, you got a beating. The Dutch PM, King, police, Ursula Von Der Leyen have all confirmed that these thugs were looking for Israeli and Jewish people and they condemned these attacks.

All these attempts to link the football violence to 'anti-Semitism' are a disgrace. All the mayor and PM and von der Leyen had to say was 'we condemn violence against Israeli fans'. Linking it to racism and religious bigotry is inflammatory nonsense.

I made some perfectly logical observations. I have been very careful NOT to condone violence, racism or antisemitism.
I do, however, have absolutely no sympathy for anyone who sings about the murder of innocent children - (and the videos show very clearly that it was a very, very large group), then behaves like most bullies who are challenged, by pretending to be the victim.
By the way, accusations of antisemitism that are not warranted cheapen the very real horrors of the holocaust.
Accordingly, I tend to look at the available evidence in an objective manner before I draw conclusions..
The evidence available to me at this point suggests that a large group of Israeli supporters were being absolute thugs. In response, some vigilantes took the law into their own hands, and decided to administer "punishment". I have no doubt there may have been innocent victims - just as there are innocent victims in Gaza, albeit on a much larger - and fatal- scale.
As I said, I have no sympathy for those who attack innocent people, be they Gazan or Israeli.
I do believe, however, that screaming antisemitism as a cover up for the reprehensible behavior of some Israeli fans is worse than those who engaged in vigilantes. If only because the vigilantes can claim they were provoked ( which doesn't make it acceptable), whereas those who condone Israels violence and racism from the comfort of their war free homes might want to take a hard look at themselves.

The Israeli's may have managed to bribe most of the politicians in the west along with a biased media supporting them, however, the vast vast majority of the world's population are disgusted and incensed with what is happening in Gaza. In any sane or fair society, Isreali clubs would be barred from international comeptition. The main issue and outrage here is the fact that Israeli teams have not been banned. Genocide and Ethnic Cleansing must have consequences. It's absolutely outrageous that they are still allowed to carry on as normal.
