Could have sworn 40a, ah well, I never even used the adaptors when I had them, literally my paper weight now
No EU UMC was ever capable of 40A charging. 40A, 72A and 80A were the US standards. Indeed, outside of real edge cases, there is no 40A single phase in europe for EVs.
The EU UMC was only ever capable of 32A. The only loss was the removal of 3phase, which happened with the change from UMC1 to UMC2.
Yeah. Y LR with AB and 20” Induction Wheels.
999 is for the untethered unit. I went with tethered. Tidy enough. Original plan was from the fuse board but this was more straight forward and no messing or cables in the house.
Did you buy a Y?
I was the same, sat in the bag until we were rewiring our car park in work so I got a 32a blue socket put it, with our old S UMC they were 40a capable but alas with Gen 2 Tesla cut back to 32a for everyone. They used to sell a 3phase UMC for 11kW charging but it seems to have gone off their website, very handy for those with work access but not worth the cost over cheap 32a adapter
I haven’t taken the UMC out of the bag in years. Since I went from S to 3 and then Y.
For reference to anyone considering it.
hmmmm a little more, but they are Dublin based it seems so I won’t fall out with them if I am happy with the job.
Yep, I use one for my Highland for 7kW work charging, the current UMC is exact same as has been a year or so. That reminds me, I still have my UMC1 32a commando adapter as a paper weight
make sure you’re getting the latest discount.
can you still do that on the newer UMc’s?
I done it for a year with my original 2014 MS one alright.
you can get 32a out of a UMC with the below adaptor and adequate supply
Gotcha. Went tethered at home.
Fokearn BG sync. Being installed next week.
Type 2 will be used at home with your home charger (if you go untethered). Type 2 will allow you to use all the public AC chargers in the likes of Aldi, Lidl, shopping centres etc
UMC is the granny charger (3 pin). Basically if your away from home and stuck and have access to a 3 pin socket. It only charges at 10a compared to 32a of the Type 2.
Type 2 cable is used for AC charging 1-11kW
For DC (fast charging) the cable is always attached to the charger.
UMC is your last chance saloon and will plug into any standard 3 pin socket. (Visiting relatives, on holiday etc…)
The 3 pin allows charging at 13 amps, but with commando adaptors (sold separately by Tesla) you can get 16/32a out of the UMC
So a type 2 will allow it to plug into all public chargers as such?
What does a UMC needed for?
upper control arms.
Mileage around 45,000 - 55,000 km?
VAT is a complex law and Tax Authorities don't always get it right, I know because I've had to "fight" them.
In this case the activity took place in NI so VAT is applicable and you can claim it back from a company perspective but it depends is the company in question active in NI or not. Telsa paid the VAT over so it's there.
Here is a pointer that may apply to some here. I got a (suspension) repair on my company car Model 3 done in Tesla Belfast last year (happened to suit for a variety of reasons). I don't do much GB&NI work so not very familiar with VAT situation - when I submitted receipt to HMRC for VAT refund, they told me Tesla should not have charged VAT on the repair. The amount of money in question is probably not worth chasing down Tesla black holes, but for anyone else getting ROI company car repaired in Belfast, I recommend making sure VAT is not applied to bill.

recent orders had the type 2 and UMC
Yes yes yes
I was told yes when ordering.
so a new model 3 comes with a type 2 cable?
The UMC is an extra a.k.a. the Granny lead
I thought the cable was an optional extra now?
ah perfect, that would reach. Appreciate the response.
The cable length I have always received (3 Teslas) is 7.5m
Anyone having phone calls just hang after you call someone and it goes to voice mail. Has happened to me at least ten times in the last month but only when it goes to voice mail and I try to hang up. Can't switch to radio or spotify and the only thing that will work is holding the two scroll buttons and resetting the display.
good to know, thanks for the reply.
