We said Biden needed to go a long time before he went- we were shouted down

We said Harris needed to be her own person and not look like Joe part 2- we were shouted down

We said Harris needed to be more specific and stop the word salad routines- we were shouted down .

We said the ethnic vote looked like it wasn’t where it needed to be - we were shouted down.

Lol, is that going to be the narrative Oscar? 'Oh, we didn't want him either…..'.

I'm not going to argue about what was said on these threads, it's there for anyone who wants to read it.

But you guys can indeed paint whatever narrative you wish about what she should have done differently, to the victors go the spoils.

I'm not bothered in trying to argue otherwise. I feel very secure in the view that what was on offer here both in terms of character/past record and capability/promise of what was to come was on full display for everyone who wanted to see it, and they have chosen what they have chosen, and that's on them. Hillary was responsible for her loss in 2016, I don't see this race in the same way.

I don't think its about Harris being a Black woman; I think it's more about Trump simplifying the message.

To truly understand the nuance of these topics, you need greater discussion and analysis; this can come across as condescending. It's easier to go with soundbites and skipping the details. This, together with distrusting established media and anti-intellectualism and a dose of 'hearing/believing what you want to believe/hear', is what I believe influenced these people the most.

To look at all the things that Trump is and has done and compare that with Harris and STILL think that he is a better option takes some tremendous leap of logic and I don't believe its as simple as America doesn't want a Black woman; its more indicative of the disconnect and very real divisions in society, though not the ones that the culture wars are supposedly about.

No he won't. He can't. This is trotted out all the time.

Think about it, he's in office for 4yrs.

You think the likes of Intel are going to walk away from their Leixlip plant? Or dismantle it and move it to America. Same goes for all the other US multinationals.

If they decided tomorrow to move to the US it would probably take a decade to relocate and get production back up to the same levels. Moving multinationals doesn't make economic sense in the short to medium term.

    Exactly.

Like I said earlier in the thread, trump doesn't care about anyone or anything other than trump,, remember that.

Perhaps some Americans are sick and tired of being lectured to by the self appointed Progressive Morality Police in the DNC and Media? Maybe they are tired of hearing how America is the root of all evil in the world and a terrible place to live.

Harris ran a poor campaign, a Social Justice Campaign that alienated men (of all colours and creeds) and placed way too much emphasis on identity politics at its core. Americans are sick of being bombarded with this stuff. They are getting it in the media and at work.

    Every Single Day.

I'd disagree, she was ready but I think most here underestimated how much the popular vote and the perception of a better economy affected the american voter. Different country, different values, democracy shone through either way.

First thing he should do is rename the country. There's nothing "United" about America.

    This too shall pass.

    People will never learn.

We're bombarded with so much news we cant remember what was important last week, never mind years ago.

Just like the bits with Brexit. It hasn't worked out they way they thought it would at all.

If you want I'll go back and get the clip. He asked her was she concerned about women's rights, she said I believe in the right to life ... , he came back 'but do you not think this should be decided by the states?!?'

Or something along those lines. It was very clear he hadn't a clue what he was talking about

There was only one candidate which called American a hell hole and garbage place.

    And it wasn't Harris

100% about the Pharma companies, we have a decent, well educated workforce, with access to the EU. Ukraine on the other hand, either he pulls funding completely and it is a sh1t show or Putin puts egg on most of our faces and negotiates a peace deal with Trump as the face of it.

Given the results they are united. United in rejecting woke, rejecting celebrity bullshit and pro "make my life better".

It's finally over and he has won. I am so glad.

I have spent months hoping for a Trump win but fearful of a Harris win. To see it locked in as a Trump win feels so good.

I have to admire Americans. Their system is based on companies making maximum profits: no minimum paid vacation, no maternity leave, no health protection. Some of them need to work 2 jobs and/or they have to work in their seventies/eighties so companies can make their directors/CEOs millionaires and billionaires.

Who do they vote for? A billionaire that profited from that system and doesn’t hide it, supported by other billionaires.

I wish them good luck but I don’t want to hear them moaning about their situation. You made your bed, lie in it

In fairness, he won the popular vote this time. Can't even argue it any more, the country isn't as divided as people think. There's been enough of a shift to Trump that even arguments about the electoral college are irrelevant.

America got the President America wanted. Americans voted for the policies Americans wanted. He won the popular vote, will likely win more EC votes than he did in 2016 and Biden did in 2020.

America has voted for what it wanted, and got it.

Ummm plenty of Billionaires supported Harris as well.

It's a popularity vote at the end of the day. The elites are all the same regardless of the party.

It is though. People go about their lives and coexist extremely peacefully for the most part, regardless of political differences. what do you think it's like here? Its not that bad

So my gut feeling was right, Trump actually over achieved. Depressing that ppl chose him and what he represents.

    Not sure she'd have approved

I think this was always on the cards in hindsight. If Harris won, Project 2025 would become Project 2029. I think she ran a good campaign but what Trump is channelling can't be stopped except by national catastrophe.

Hopefully, our resident Trump supporters are enjoying this at least.
