Oh God, forget that then.
-Its Virtuosso Image Xtreme by Team Vix, there is also a BlueHD v3.1 by Rosso logo at the bottom. I really dont want to mess with this tbh because the theme of this box is that nothing works when I try and if I do anything to the version Ill lose what I have and wont be able to get it back.
-No only one cable from the satellite to the back of the box, and a normal attic aerial cable for the Saorview channels.
The flashrom on this box has room for 4 images organised into separate boot slots which can be picked at boot time or by setting/default. You can try say my guide on boot slot2 and always revert to what you have currently (presumably on slot 1) without risk of affecting or losing.
You have basically exactly my setup. One SAT cable (no recording and watching something else the same time) and one saorview cable. Its really quite easy.
Thanks for all your help Im going to try this method but my Manual Scan window has a load of options:
Tuner: Tuner A Si2169D (DVB-S2X) / Tuner C Si2168 (Combined DVB-C-T2)
Type of scan: Complete/User Defined Transponder/Predefined Transponder
System: DVB/DVB-T2/Auto
Region: Too many to list covering the whole planet, is it looking for an Ireland option or a UK option here? Im not sure if this is me telling it where the dish is located or the box asking what channels I want to tune in, if I put in Ireland will I get Saorview and UK channels?
Transponder: 658.0 mhz (channel 44), no idea what this is or what it wants me to input here.
Network Scan - No
Clear Before Scan - Yes
Only Free Scan - Yes/No
I can get to openwebif and I can use the bouquet maker to make a favourites bouquet so if I could just do a scan for working channels only (Saorview and Freesat) I would be sorted but I have a feeling if I do that its going to wipe the whole thing and then not find anything because the region settings are wrong or else the transponder is wrong. Im in Limerick if that makes any difference.
Have to go to work now but if you wouldnt mind telling me the settings Id need to do this Id be super grateful.
You want to use UK option for sat as living in Dublin gives the Itv and BBC,
Saorview channels are from DVB/T.
If i want to rescan sat and terrestrial YES to ALL.
Change tuner yes/no if you dont want to scan.
Saorview needs your location entered to scan correct transmitter >changes region to region. Mine is 3 rock.
Wait so is it a manual or automatic scan I should be doing?
To keep it simple this is the procedure, pics may be out of sync, YOU CHANGE SETTINGS BY TOGGLING UISNG RIGHT OR LEFT ARROW KEYS
This is what you do.
At the end you will have 409 channels. to put them in Aplpha order arrow up press green select 28 press ok.
Thats the lot sorted.
Just to say the image version can be very helpful see this pic and note the pointers, that's what I need.
Ah Jaysus Swoofer you didnt have to do all that thanks a million, starting a block of night shifts now but Ill report back when I get around to a new attempt.
Yes! Done at last, embarrassingly easy in the end, this is perfect now and I have an actually decent mix of music channels aswell, I thought they were all gone bankrupt. Also Sky Mix and Sky Arts? Daytime Stargate and Star Trek TNG/Voyager/DS9, perfect hangover tv.
Got the backup exported successfully and it applied to the boxes in all my tenants rooms aswell so couldnt have worked out better, thanks a million.
Hello all
I bought a wi-fi dongle for H27s, got Open Webif working, deleted bouquets, moved around a few channels , thrilled with myself.
I came back the next day, my IP address not working in the browser. Switched box on and off, but no success.
Any pointers on how I could fix this please. I also attempted to download Skin plug-ins in the same session . Could that have cocked it up for me ?
Txs for any assistance
Your router may have re-assigned the IP address for Zgemma in order to manage your network. This can happen if a device disconnects and reconnects, or if the router is restarted (depending upon the router and its settings).
If you go into your router settings, you should be able to get a list of all devices connected to the network and the IP address assigned to it.
Your zgemma should also respond to its name in your local network.
Once you're back on it go to shell in openwebif and have a look at the following files
/etc/hostname /etc/hosts
in my case /etc/hostname consists of a single line saying 'zgemmah7'
and /etc/hosts contains this line '127.0.1.1 zgemmah7'
what this means regardless of the IP address assigned you can always get to your box using this link 'http://zgemmah7'
of course you can assign it any other name you like
Most routers also allow you set a fixed address to a specific device by its MAC address.
Txs , I'm back on line. New to this - where do I find shell in openwebif?
In my openwebif its at the bottom-left, Extras/Terminal
Every router is different but after a reboot/renew-IP it should then be known under that name in your home network too. Some routers also allow you to name it in the router and/or assign the same IP address every time etc.
I just got delivery of a Zgemma H7S, and I find that the only supplied code (4015) for it in the One For All 7955 codelist doesn't work. Can anybody confirm what the code should be?
For my One For All URC 7145, Evolve 4, it has two codes listed for Zgemma, 5101 and 4015. You could try 5101 and hopefully get lucky.
Is that delivery of a new H7S, if you have the original remote the One for All 7955 has a learning mode, it can take a few minutes but it is worth it to have one remote.
Hi guys. Got this error earlier after a reboot. Can anyone let me know what to change and where please
Basically it complains about the hard drive you configured for your timeshift aka 'pause, rewind live tv' not being formatted with a linux file system. Could it be a USB drive formatted with Windows exfat? If this is your built-in hard drive it should always be a linux file system. Reformat under Setup/System/Storage Devices.
Of course with a reformat you will lose all the data on that drive for example previous recordings.
Most people have just the one hard drive for everything with different folders for recordings, timeshift, epg and ideally it should bet linux ext4. So reformat which makes it ext3, then convert to ext4 then verify your settings for recordings, timeshift and epg locations.
If its an external drive for example USB stick or so with data on it you want to keep like movies or whatever consider buying a second USB drive or reorganize things.
Thanks for the info. It's external hard drive mounted on rear. Will reformat it now. Nothing too important recorded
Dont use passport ones , powered ones are much better.
I am thinking of buying a Zgemma H7s V2 and I have had a read through a number of threads to try to make sure that a standard, 7mm HDD will fit in the slot at the back. Having read though, there did not seem to be a definitive answer to this. I have seen one other thread where someone has installed a Hitachi HDD in their H7S, but that is the only one I've seen. Some posters on German forums have suggested that standard 7mm HDD are too thick to fit in the slot, but as far as I know the dimensions of 2.5" SATA SSD and 7mm HDD are the same.
Please can people here just confirm that they have installed a standard 7mm, spinning disk, HDD in their H7S with no problems? I have a new Seagate 7mm, 1TB HDD ready to go, so if anyone has actually installed a Seagate HDD that would be even better and very helpful to know.
Thanks in advance.

I use this guy, its 6.9mm and it was a tight fit. So much so that you would be thinking something isnt quite right here. Both on the case cutout and the interior plastic cradle, more so on the interior. But when I opened up the h7s I was able to loosen up the interior fitting screws a bit and it was grand then. But definitely too tight from factory imo. Also with all that tightness and contact with metal case I would not use a traditional spin drive due to noticeable noise from vibrations, I tried, would absolutely get an SSD.

Thank you for your quick reply.
If the HDD really is unsuitable I'm going to have to have to give this some thought. When I have a perfectly good HDD sat on the shelf, doing nothing, I'm pretty reluctant to spend another £50 on an SSD. In fact, to get a 1TB SSD with a suitably high endurance rating for PVR use, I may have to spend considerably more that £50, which is then nearly doubling the price of the box.
Anyway, thanks again for the info. It really is helpful.
Or get a powered caddy case and enclose it was another way?
Thanks for the reply.
Indeed. But not very elegant compared to having a half internal drive. Is there any specific problem using a USB powered caddy plugged directly into the box USB port?
I get you, was in the same boat really, had a perfectly good 512GB WD to spare, but it just wouldn't do.
Not only was it a tad bigger and I really had to press it through the case cutout with nasty scratching noises and all but the operating vibrations were just terrible. Normally you don't hear the h7s at all but with the spin drive there was a constant hum that even traveled into the cabinet. In the end I went for a cheap SSD which works without complaint so far. Bit the bullet thinking whats another €35 in the long run for cheap television. One month of Sky costs me €56.
External may be an option too. Has a USB3.0 port after all which should be just fine. But then you'll need a case and a cable and you're already a third way down to a cheap 512 SSD.
Just to add a bit you should not skimp when setting up this box and if you try and skimp on cost you will pay dearly, the box will break.
To get the best out of box, use an SSD and it fits perfecctly. An SSD has no spin up time and is accessed instantly, makes the box more responsive. and its silent. The 7 day epg is stored on the SSD but when the box is configured the default will say internal flash and this is a no no. You change EPG location to Media/HHD in settings and green to save.
This is a good one to use.
When I set these boxes up I always put the epg on a usb.
The remote is poor. The pic quality is fab. But in the old days these boxes came with a warning " Steep learning curve" still applies.
If you buy with factory image it works but looks very basic. All the images used like Vix are actually hacks for the box. If you buy from Amazon de it will come with Openatv and 2 channel listings, one for 13e and one for 19e and language may be German nb AND A 2 PIN PLUG
NB it only has one DTT tuner so if you are recording on one mux you cant watch on the other. SAORVIEW has 2 muxes.
Have fun
It was me who said I used a Hitachi HDD drive. It was a Z5K320 left over from an old laptop. It's 7mm and has no exposed electronics on the bottom.
