The groupthink with Jose only being entertaining in small doses makes me think Ken has some sort of electric prod that he pokes Murph and Eoin with when it comes to Jose. He’s the most entertaining man to grace the premier league since Keano was out on the field kneecaping lads. The football heritage speech alone will probably be studied by distant future generations like Egyptologists study hieroglyphs today.
In case the lads have forgotten, this is supposed to be sport and showbiz mixed together and has been since at least 1992.
Yesterday's pod was like the OTB days when they were rambling on with more time to fill, not sure if a guest fell through or it was just a quiet week, but it was very entertaining.
Think that was true once upon a time, but Jose has long since crossed the line from entertaining pantomime villain into actual selfish asshole behaviour. The Tito Vilanova and Eva Carneiro episodes were enough to put me off him completely. He's only become more bitter sounding as the years have gone on too, so can totally understand the small doses comment (I don't even want the small doses myself).
I don’t know if anyone has heard, but Miguel has a book coming out
I think his own podcast may be disappearing up it own rectum following a bright enough start.
5 episodes on Arrigo Sacchi was probably a bit much.
Long may it continue, along with the increased coverage of the actual league in Ireland. All set for a good final weekend now, hopefully Shels get it done.
25 mins in and Ken is STILL talking about offsides. Someone please stop him!!
Haha... listening to it right now.
This is like some performative piece of modern art where some hipster eejit is reading the dictionary.
In fairness, Ken sounds extremely content and he's probably earned it at this stage
I'd to turn it off after 10 mins and he was only on offside number 4 or something. Combined with no Eoin which = added Murph, it was a pretty meh pod.
Going through each of the 8 offsides in detail was a bit much but it was a bank holiday pod so hard to be too critical
Luckily for the lads Erik ten Hag got the sack just in time to rescue it from being the most boring nonsensical episode ever.
Ha, in a way I think that's exactly what it was… going through each one, one by one, really got across very effectively just how stupid it was that Mbappe kept doing it, and how it must've felt for his teammates 😅
Well, that’s a good completely untrue statement at least
Give me two hours of Ken talking about an El Classico before you give me another minute of the LoI taliban trying to convince the 98% of football supporters in Ireland to even pay attention to it let alone actually care enough to watch it.
The barstoolers you mean 👍🏻
To be fair, I was also astonished at Mbappe's dismal performance when watching the game live. It was nice to know I wasn't the only one!
Ruben Amorim isn't even good enough looking for Heat magazine let alone GQ, this has to be Ken's worst ever take, ever
Thumbnail today was Rodri but they didn't mention him at all right?!
Ya what, they went over the whole thing in the show. Do ye lads just listen to the bumpers or some shíte?
that lad would ware you
I don't recall any mention of it on Tuesday's show unless I zoned out at some stage
It was just a small bit in between the rugby and US Murph.. Easy to miss if you skipped the rugby.
I don’t think Lawrence Donegal appreciated Murph’s little joke/dig at the end about his predictions. It seemed a bit of a low blow in fairness
Ah that was it. Skipped the rugby and landed at them greeting US Murph.
At the end I went to the episode description and it hadn't mentioned it either so was confused
I opened the episode thinking I'd like it but I found Donegan a bit rambling and unable to offer any new insight . Maybe it's all the traveling he's been doing catching up on him or the fact that he's not a political journalist.
Have to agree. He's a likeable fella but he rambled alot on the political stuff, and I found he didn't offer any interesting anecdotes from his considerable time on the road. When he started talking about 'feeding the geese' he completely lost me.
Got to agree with previous posters, I really like Donegan and he's generally a breath of fresh air... But this was a swing and a miss. It missed Ken being there to having a bit more of a dig down into Laurance's experience on the hustings.
Having Eoine and Murph doing it sounded a quite a bit off.
That politics pod with Lawrence Donegan. Transition year stuff.
To be honest it sounded like they didn’t have much to offer in terms of insightful questions, bit of a shame considering Donegan’s time spent on the campaign trail. Ken seemed to miss the point of the Trump interview, both figuratively and literally, so not convinced he would have added much more.
I enjoy Lawrence Donegan when he's on to talk golf. However, I thought he came across a bit detached from the reality of the situation in that politics pod. His reasoning for Kamala winning seemed to be that he doesn't like Trump. There was no other real insight beyond that.
Also felt, like the poster above, that he wasn't particularly enamoured at Murph's dog about his predictions.
Lawrence was way more empathetic and understanding towards those voting for Trump than I'd ever be.
