funnily enough I called AIB today to clear my own HP on my car and they said I need to walk into a branch to do it and agree a rate to pay off there and then… as the rate could change daily so it needs to be agreed and paid off there and then.
I’ve got 17 payments left so I’m hoping I can simply get the final payoff for a bit less than what those 17 payments would equate to…
It could be viewed as sly, to be honest though (maybe it's the autist in me) I think it's fair enough. A PCP is a lease deal for 3 years with an option to buy at the end. You're trying to effect an option that is outside the terms of the contract. Therefore the finance company is being "nice" by allowing this option. Strictly speaking they could reject it.
Then the provisions of the CCA would apply and you could hand the car back without penalty after repaying 50%+1c of the financed purchase price.
At 0.99% the interest owed would be minimal.
and future interest.
That is effectively the penalty. You pay the interest either way, which is a bit sly.
Brilliant, thanks lads 👍🏻
There are no early repayment penalties on my (PCP) deal with Finance Ireland. You basically pay the accrued and future interest.
I had a look through my contract and I can’t see anything about a penalty for paying it off early, it just says you need to settle outstanding payments. That’s the way it was for any PCP plan I’ve been on before.
Can confirm this too. Done a search for it in the referral store for someone during the week.
There's no acceleration boost upgrade available for Highland. I assume they want to maintain the acceleration performance gap between M3LR AWD and M3P. In the pre-facelift there was little difference when acceleration boost was added to the LR, in fact, the LR AWD pulls ahead at higher speeds.
Always an option alright. I’ll do it for half price 😂
Perhaps an Acceleration Boost as a happy midway upgrade? Folk with lots of Referral Points can get it cheaper for you (not me) so ask here if you are interested
That's what I'm thinking but it appears the only way to see the T&C's is to pay the deposit and complete the credit application which is frankly ridiculous. I'd like to know what the T&C's are before entering an agreement.
It could still work out ok as the interest rate is way lower now than it was when I bought my car.
Keep in mind that USA gets different batteries from Panasonic, while we get LG ones and there could be more small differences that could affect range.
Looking at HP with Finance Ireland it says charges may apply if the finance deal is paid off early - it seems to be standard blurb with all HP deals.
Does anyone know what these charges are wrt the Tesla M3? At .99% APR if the charges are a % of the remaining interest then I'd happily pay that.
Graham will certainly do a deal with you i'd imagine.
When I was looking to sell my Y, he was much more willing to do a deal and would actually negotiate with you.
Richie just had a price and that was it. I went with Graham in the end and it was very smooth.
Just be prepared for a slightly worse hit than you expect.
As others have said, you only live once!
If it makes you happy I’d do it. I change cars very frequently and love having something different to drive.
Only live once. If you can afford it and you want it, stuff it!
Offer your car to Graham in Graham Walker Cars in Harold’s Cross or Richie in Vector Motors to see where you lie.
I bought a Model 3 Performance in Late August 23. I enquired about a trade in for the new performance model in April so 8 months old and they offered 34700. 15000kms on the clock.
I wouldn't expect a decent price from Tesla for your car.
Depends what way you want to sell your current car. I’d expect a circa €5k loss?
I got the new model 3 LR Dual Motor in February and I’m getting itchy feet that the performance is out now. With the much better PCP rates there wouldn’t be much change in my repayments, but I must be mad to be thinking this I know. I assume I’d lose quite a bit on my current car so it would make it undoable.
Interesting review from USA on all the highland variants.
Rwd long range efficiency of near 5 miles per kWh at 70mph.

Tesla said we have you covered we hired junkies from Dublin to help with the voice recognition.
You to the car: Alri', wotz da stori wi' ya, driv us ta da nearest offy.
No wonder it could understand you.
Mine rarely misses an instruction. Occassionally if I ask for an obscure song or album from Spotify it might throw up the wrong selection but generally it works great for navigation, general controls and spotify.
it’s always flawless for me (I’m from Dublin)
I was just thinking this. But I don’t use it extensively. glove box, heating and a few other bits.
Mine works well, maybe it's your accent😛
Yes. I agree it's unusable. I don't do it as it's a total hack but saying the destination to Google Maps voice recognition and sharing the location with the Tesla app gets there faster.
Do other people find the voice recognition to be horrendously bad? I don't understand how it can be so bad for a "tech" company. There is light and day between a Tesla and Alexa.
