Following on from main thread in Current Affairs about Tubs in general (now closed and mod suggestion that Entertainment category is more suitable).
Indeed, entertainment in certain respects is what Tubs has provided, albeit perhaps in a way not intended. And still awaiting 150k payback to the licence fee holder.
And of course, his new career in Virgin Radio which is imminent.

Normally you try not to have the holiday relief presenter outshine the regular presenter as you’d have questions as to why you don’t just employ the relief presenter as the full time host.
random guess is that Vogue is simply too busy. She’s got a lot of other projects
Tubs’ interview with film superstar Paul Giamatti was fantastic. Tubridy really does belong amongst the Great and the Good of Hollywood.
10/10 for effort at least.
Is he doing the show from Dublin now, in the fancy new Q102 studios?

What's all this BS... https://m.independent.ie/entertainment/radio/im-extremely-honoured-ryan-tubridy-to-receive-irish-post-award-for-contribution-to-broadcasting/a837654251.html#:~:text=Former%20RT%C3%89%20broadcaster%20Ryan%20Tubridy,Outstanding%20Contribution%20to%20Broadcasting%20Award.
Never hear of it before.

That sounds about as prestigious as this:
NK machine at work. It would have been cheaper and easier to have added the 150k back to the 725m digout required to keep RTE going.
NK plan seems to be push the brand, because that's what you do do in marketing.
But pushing a tarnished brand is just more money after bad money.
Irish Post is a UK rag is it not?
I think the Irish Post is a newspaper for the Irish diaspora in the UK.
Fair play to RT, I’m not his biggest fan but he’s certainly landed on his feet since he moved to England: a hit show on Virgin Radio, a successful podcast, and now a very prestigious UK award.
Heady days indeed for the former most trusted man in Ireland.
Hardly a prestigious award let alone a very prestigious award when most have never heard of it, nor the paper. Keep flying the NK flag though. ;)
Most people haven’t heard of most things, that doesn’t mean they’re not prestigious. My ninety odd year old granny never heard of James Gandolfini, god rest him, it doesn’t diminish his accomplishments.
Fair play to Ryan, the comeback is still on!
He really is
Im glad to hear he's bedding in over there. Long may that success continue.
It’s a much bigger market over there.
Following on from the post about the little fella pulling all sorts of strings and strokes…
Remember this beauty -
"Offering the star €170,000 he [Kevin Brannigan] also said that his contract would permit him to work elsewhere be it for the UK station GB News or his former employer RTÉ"
What a fantastic offer that was. Although now that I come to think about it, it may have been a massive spoof with debts either called in or now due.
It does seem spoofing has become very fashionable these days.
Anyway, I’m in my villa in Monaco with my supermodel wife trying to sort out a leaking sink and my ability to reply or respond may be limited.
It’s a classic promotional tactic when someone is embroiled in controversy: offer them a job as a joke. If anyone was spoofing in that story it was Brannigan, back when all anyone in the media had to do was mention Tubridy and the headlines will follow.
I’m surprised Bohemians FC didn’t offer him a coaching job.
he could’ve been the Bohemians bee keeper
Sport aint Tubirdys thing. You obviously dont know to much about him.
These awards are intended to promote the award giver and sponsors more so than the recipient. Being cynical about the lifetime achievement awards, they are generally end of career awards. Perhaps Tubridy's time in London is coming to an end and he will be moved to Q102 with a more relevant presenter taking over that time slot on Virgin Radio.
Regards…jmcc
A newspaper is sitting on a scoop about a very prominent radio presenter being fired from his position and, instead of revealing this in an article, they’re sitting on it and complicit in a cover up by giving him an award? Ludicrous.
Tubridy's column today reminisces about the LLS Toy Show and the kids he met.
The headline is "Ryan Tubridy reminisces on one of his favourite times on the Late Late Show". No London Diary stuff. No mention of the new Toyman either. There's a sense that if the 150K Payments Scandal wasn't uncovered that he'd still be doing the LLS and preparing for the Toy Show.
There is a rumour going around radio industry whatsapp groups, Coming early 2025 = The Ryan Tubridy Breakfast show on Q102 + LMFM + LIve95 + C103
Idiots who say things like "it could be as many as 100 to 120" ffs, pick one.
A Radio Caroline legend. Staying on with Robbie Robinson and Ross Brown while the radio station was being forced off the air in 1967. Along with his service to the BBC, he also worked on various US local radio stations down through the years. He is signing off today due to his illness.
Ryan Tubridy should take note from colleagues such as Johnnie as to what music radio is and how it should be presented.
Here comes proper networking...
Is there an audience for all these stations?
Probably. The real question is whether the listeners on those stations want Tubridy or their own presenters.
