I did the exact same, I've been dipping in and out of horizon forbidden west (wow), Alan wake 2, demon souls and Spiderman 2. Last night just stuck to Alan wake 2 as I'd never played it. Looks great but not the same fidelity level as horizon/Spiderman but it's still great.
The pro is one hell of a machine which looks so much better in person than on streams. I think pssr is a game changer
Might have lucked out this time on the coil whine so. In NMS on the og, I could hear it clearly when on the menu/inventory screens, but I didn't hear anything when I played earlier. However, there is a low fan noise when I was playing GT7. The game noises easily drowned it out, but audible at quiet moments. And similarly, no coil whine in the GT7 menu whereas there was on the og. Graphical improvements are worth it though, and the menus run quicker too.
Series X does win the noise this round. Its super quiet as far as I remember. The design probably helps. Still prefer the PS5 design though.
It definitely does have coil whine ... same as the rest ... but you may be lucky and/or not be sensitive to it. I had the same issue on my original PS5 fat. My slim is quieter, but it's still present especially on games that push the ps5. I'm not getting a pro as they are too expensive, and I'm not risking getting a noisy one either. Maybe in a few years, or wait for PS6.
Series X just doesn't have this problem. Sony cheapened out here. Mad, even on their premium console, several years later. And you still have to pay for stand or use those cheap plastic feet, and a disk drive. 🙄
And RDR2 is not running at 60 FPS on the pro.
Last of us 2 remastered looks sublime. Presenting the pro on YouTube was a terrible idea. The quality in real life is so much better.
Have spent the day dipping in and out of a few games. Need to settle into one. Red red 2 is the top of the list at the moment but it Feels mad to pay €800 for a console then play PS4 game.
Got 195 for mine today, but it's the digital version so doesn't go for as much even though like you it was pretty much perfectly boxed.
Have the OG PS5 packed up. Reset her, cleaned her fans and covers, all the original packaging down to the tie wrap thingys. Only downside is the black DualSense as I don't have a white one other than the brand new one with the Pro, and I ain't giving that away, it's new! Have also included the original purchase receipt. She's still in great condition and I reckon I've over 10k hours on it between gaming and watching. CEX giving €306 cash, so Pro cost €500, which is more palatable. Or €620 when I get the drive...
Red Dead 2 never got a 60fps PS5 patch.
The whole thing is so fast. Games are loading too fast I don't have time to take a sup of beer 😞.
PS4 games look better, apparently PS3 streaming is improved. PS5 game boosts and PS5 pro settings make everything just better.
Maybe the PSSR is doing something, I read its still 30.
Fired up NMS, looks more or less the same but water is definitely improved. Only played an hour so I'm sure the expedition will highlight the new changes as I progress. Great idea tbh, a new expedition for updates to show off the updates.
Will give GT7 a lash later, once it's downloaded. As per the DF video above, it apparently has a 120fps mode now, but it may be patched out with the official Pro update.
One thing I will say is that the launch is missing a killer launch game. Can't remember if it was the same for the PS4 Pro, but there's nothing to highlight the new power really aside from older games. Hopefully Black Myth will have a Pro version to go for the physical launch.
On the plus side, I don't believe I can hear any coil whine on the Pro!
Perhaps it's a false 60 but it looks the business. ,😂
Are you sure it's 60 FPS ?
If you are not running in a game mode,.e.g. in a regular mode then an OLED TV can smooth out the frames, but higher input lag etc.
I don't know. The frame reader on the TV says 60 but VRR is off. And it looks devine. Spider man on the other handy hit 120 with VRR on even with ray tracing.
RDR2 got a 60fps upgrade? When?
Finally got it set up. Once I started setting it up I got distracted by fixing all the cables behind the TV and ended up spending a good while doing that but now everything is nice and neat.
I went ahead and put in the M.2 and disk drive before booting it and all went fine. It updated, registered the drive, built the data base and updated the controller without much fuss.
Then I had to go game by game to check for updates. I really wish it had a update all button. Or at least showed a list of what had an update available.
Stuck on horizon zero dawn remastered pro upgrade 😂. It was a lovely looking game but running at 120 now is stunning. I can go fidelity mode at 60fps but I'm happier with the 120.
Since i finished Red dead 1 last week I've downloaded RDR2. Holy cow that's some amazing looking game at a solid locked 60
Have lots more to down load and try but first impressions are it's well worth the money.
The physical release of Black Myth Wukong will eventually force my hand at the disc drive, but should have enough to keep me going until then.
I've my disc drive ready to go for two weeks time. Want to give TLOU2 a go. Might even break out Spider-Man for some thwip thwipping around the city. Am very excited for it.
I am going to set myself a challenge. When my 30th Anniversary PS5 arrives, I am going to see how long I can survive with a digital only console.
In unsurprising news, Firewalk Studios, the studio that developed Concord has been closed and Concord will not return in any form.
Sony are thinking about having enough shiney content and franchises for PS5 Pro / PS6 / TV with the least investment possible. Covering their ass for the next 10 years.
The Last Guardian runs at 60 FPS off the original disk on PS5 and then they forced it to 30 in a update. They could re-enable 60 FPS with minimal outlay.
I am wondering will they go down the digital subscription only route for back catalogue stuff, like Nintendo are doing on Switch.
MS added and improved a load of XBox games at the OS level for free, 60 FPS, HDR, ..., for XBox Series, but I wonder how much extra sales or platform buy in did that lead to ?
Your son needs to log into your PS5 and set it as his primary console, you then download his PS+ games.
When you log into your profile you will have access to his games.
You do not need PS+ on your account.
I no longer have the stars icon either. But this happened a while back i think with different experiences for different folks and got resolved eventually, no rewards were removed. Seems there's plenty of bugs on this offering, which isn't that great in the first place. Not Sony's finest hour
Recently purchased a ps5 no disk console was wondering about the gamesharing. Son has his ps5 with ps + and good few games collected from the ps + and the catalogue of games that do be free also. Was wondering I don't have ps+ if we gameshare will I be able to play his games without it or will I have to purchase the plus. Thanks in advance
Same, just the bare Stars icon. Once I clicked on it it made me sign back up for it but once I got passed that all my Stars etc were fine.
I got an email a while ago to go into app and accept new t&c's or my Stars would be disabled. I did it and now gone back into it after reading last few posts and i no longer have a Stars icon to get into the rewards bit, very weird.
I've got 5 and 10 vouchers still too.
Weird! Three different experiences.
Not showing any vouchers for me either.
For me, in the app it shows both the 5 and 10 euro vouchers...
I'm not seeing any voucher at all
Sony quietly removed the €5 and €20 vouchers from PlayStation Stars. They have a single €10 voucher option now. The points required hasn't changed (i.e. it's the same as two €5s in the old system) but you gotta do a bit more now to get a discount.
