It was probably mentioned but I was locked out for a while
Who bought the old Taaffes shop? Anyone have any ideas?
Temporary Halloween shop gone into the former Pet shop in Wellpark.
Fully expecting it to be a pop up Christmas shop in a couple of weeks
Signs at the entry to the Tesco Knocknacarra car park say St Jarleths Credit Union. Implying a branch will be opening soon in the complex, can't see where they will go.
Does anyone have any info on this?
They sent me a survey a few weeks ago (I use the Tuam branch) asking about an amalgamation with Castlerea and Athlone I think, but there wasn't any mention of them moving into Galway.
That seems like an odd one as claddagh credit union(formerly St Anthony's) is local CU for that side of town. It's completely outside of st jarlaths durastiction which is interesting.
Not wishing to stray into speculation, but there was a proposed merger of the two in 2020.
Also mentioned here.
I don't remember that there was a vote on this, so i assume it never got that far.
Yeah as a claddagh member I know it was supposed happen but fell through and heard they couldn't agree on terms for staff in both offices as they differed.
Funny enough I noticed that the credit union in Birr in Offaly is affiliated with Athenry
All i know is that I never got to vote on it.
I noticed that the St Jarleths Credit Union sign is gone from the block of signs at Ground and Co. today.
Not sure if this is a new entry on daft but looks like we wont be getting a new shop there for a while yet unfortunately - https://www.daft.ie/commercial-property-for-rent/31-william-street-galway-city-centre/5522753
Maybe Irelands biggest vape shop. could you imagine the flavour options!
It'd be like a Baskin Robbins of vape shops
Probably a temporary Christmas shop will be in there :(
Where in Knockers is this supposed to go?
Cappagh Park I think. Pipe dream
The site has been secured on the distributor road opposite the new Aldi and Lidl stores between the Deane and Altan apartments roundabouts
Don't believe it will have the Swimming Pool though? I thought that was been earmarked for Cappagh Park?

All will be revealed on Mon 11th Nov"
The open evening to showcase the plans will be held in the Clybaun hotel on Monday 11th November from 6pm to 9pm.
"
I thought that was for retail only
SuperValu is owner of the 14 acres of land. Part of that site was previously the subject of a proposal for a €30m shopping complex which was turned down by planners – the ‘Kingston Cross’ scheme was to be anchored by Tesco and sports retail giant Decathlon. The Musgrave Group is expected to draw up plans for a major development on the site.
A new shop on Abbeygate street opened recently - plumes.ie . For the stoner in your life
You are right. Has been moved. I for one welcome this. Makes sense to me as location over Cappagh or Leisureland. far more people living in the area and its on the Primary BusConnects Galway Corridor

Christmas market opening today apparently.
Pile of sh1te.
In better news Tiny Traders will be opening in the former Next unit in Edward Square from around the 6th December until Xmas Eve.
Pile of smaller shìte?
Galway's real market continues beside St Nicholas, every weekend.
Nope, loads of great local traders at Tiny Traders. Far superior to the Xmas Market.
Excellent.
Forbait Snamh Thiar has purchased a two-acre site opposite the Lidl & Aldi stores in Knocknacarra, to build a Regional Aquatic Centre — the land is owned by Musgraves, which is reportedly planning to build a Supervalu supermarket on an adjoining site.
So that WDR section will be the west equivalent of the Headford Road retail strip, along with a bus terminus. Wonderful, wonderful
