i thought we just fill it in??
Just fill it in and keep it in case you have an inspection
No need to send in the book unless they request it. Most likely they will ask you to send in receipts as well.
Spend a couple of euro and send by registered post. They rang me one year stating I didn't send the receipts and I forwarded copies to them, yet when the receipts were returned it was the originals that came back.
Do any of the boluses give a slow release of cobalt into the system?
I used trace sure last week. Came recommended. I’ll let you know next year if it makes any difference
Going to mineral drench the ewes tomorrow with twin plus or cobalt b12.
Want to give them a fluke dose also. The ram will be going out next week and just wondering what dose should I go with, if at all.
I know I should test for fluke but won't have time to get one done. ( Lot of football being played this couple of weeks. Good complaint as all semi finals/finals)
you shouldn’t mineral dose and give fluke dose on the one day.
who told you that ?
vet
thats ridiculous for a vet to state that, what research is he basing that on
unless he meant not to mix the 2 doses together and dosing
nope he said it’s not recommended to dose for both on the one day. Experienced vet
Iv been doing it for 25 years 🫣🫣🫣🫣
I assume the thinking is that the fluke dose may cause them to scour for a couple of days and the mineral drench might get flushed through them..so it would be better to give the mineral dose a few days later once they have dried up..
Didn't get them dosed anyway. Ladies won the final yesterday morning (daughter playing).
Minors won the final today. 2 nephews playing, so didn't get a chance to do much farming over the weekend.
Next question. Could I dose next Saturday and let the ram out the same day??
And thanks for all the feedback. Good to get a conversation about these things
Folk have lambs here about 45kgs. I have a reseed from last Autumn very thick clover cover. Would I be OK turning them out on it? Advice welcome.
wouldn’t see why not. Keep an eye on them for bloat obviously but never really head of a problem during autumn winter
Try not to let them on with empty bellies.
My first few away for 2024. May born lambs, 2 doses and no nuts. Hopefully the price holds as have a lot at 44/45kg that will be fit in next few weeks.
(My young lad was a bit trigger happy with the spray when marking they were fit 😅. Must explain more we are a low input system 🙃🙃).
What weight were they
46.5kg up
How much did they come into ?
I had 47.5kg's in Athenry yesterday and got €165 for them so was happy with that. They were getting a small bit of meal for the last 6 weeks approx.
wont know until i get the weight sheet from Factory. Will update here
Ive a sheep welfare inspection today. If I have lambs grazing on another man's farm is it ok to show these lambs to the inspector.
There's no need to show them as it's only breeding stock she's looking for. Just wondering what do I say if she asks where are all your lambs? Scanned 240 lambs and only sold 90 odd so far.
If the other farmer has no sheep, you don't have to notify the department,
Thanks wrangler. No he only has a few sucklers
Hi all, I have a bit silage ground reseeded earlier in the year, l cut in for silage the first of October, nice pick of grass on it again. I have nothing to graze it, what would it be worth to let for a week or 2 for grazing?
Anyone know if coolaney mart in sligo would be a good one for horned ewe lambs?
does a neighbour have sheep beside u. It’s hardly worth anyone moving sheep onto it for the sake of a week or two. Too much hassle moving sheep.
If it’s a big area and there was. Customer the average coat is around €0.35 per head per week .
Go out and buy 20/30 store lambs, they won't break you, no much hardship in that many and you won't have ragwort. You might even make a few pound.
Ye few neighbors would, really just want it grazed, might just offer it to them it's probably not worth a whole lot as you say
