Wouldn't you think it was high time there was a public database where farmers could assess all the mart prices, showing mart, breed, DOB, age, no of movements, price, price per kg etc. ICBF have access to all this information in real-time so why don't farmers?

Big difference between store bullocks under 400kg and stores even at 420 you can get any fr under 400 kg for 2 euro but just because the money is small doesn't mean they are value, if you buy now at 380 kg and steers put on 80 kg for the winter you've only a 460 kg steer going to grass which for the likes of a fr or continental dairy x is very light and your probably going to be overage when selling but hopefully it might work out for lads
Cant agree with you to be honest,the worst of the 400kg bullocks bought here in November last year killed into 320kg carcass on back on the 29th of July..we're middling blue x fr and long narrow holstein type hereford bullocks
That was some going for the worst of your animals given that no animals got to grass before mid April and nothing thrived for at least 6 weeks you'll have to let us in on the secret

I go to tullow the odd time, find it good but not as much dairy stock. Thurles is very good.
I've signed up to Tullow, I must make a trip over this year.
Thurles is good, was very busy there last Monday, got some lighter stock for ok money.
I've signed up to Ballinakill too but it's hit n miss with dairy stock of the type I want.

It can really vary there with price and stock, I think it's improving with the new owners.
No what I mean is are you online bidding straight off a camera or laptop or is it a case you go to mart and then bid online

The last 3 years by far the best money to be made out of beef is killing 20-22 month old hex and Angus between Xmas and end of February at the flat prices.
Those so called dear weanlings mentioned in the mart tracker thread might have been very reasonable yet.
I wouldn't be giving them any cattle at 5.20
