I love hearing a cover song especially when they make them better. It can change the song completely for the better or worse or make you hear something you didn't recognize from the original.

My favourite is Urge Overkill's version of Girl, You'll be a Woman Soon. That version is amazing!

I heard this by Vanilla Fudge recently and I love it. You have to listen to it loud. I like the original and the Kim Wilde version but this one just has something that's missing from the other two.

Great question. Yes. Quite a few. Some are comps, like a bunch of different artists cover The Beatles or James Brown for example. But I think maybe you mean more like this RATM album that is covers of all different artists:

Camper Van Beethoven covered the entirety of Fleetwood Mac's "Tusk"

Flaming Lips have done a bunch of whole album reworks with various guests like Miley Cyrus.

Laibach covered the Beatles "Let it Be" album. I'm sure there are loads of other examples.

Spotted a few months back that Caroline Polachek has done a cover of the mid-80s Irish synth classic 'Spring is Coming With A Strawberry in the Mouth'

I don't think it's as good as the original but her (and a few of her friends') version of Taylor Dayne's big hit does bring a lot to the party
