The Israelis have effectively 'lost the room'. They never ruled the coastal regions. And there was a small kingdom called israel, but they called the whole area Canaan. There were many tribes that lived there and there was never a unified kingdom.
The north of Ireland has always had a large Irish population. And thanks to the good friday agreement we recognize the rights of both groups to live there in peace. No-one ever suggested ethnically cleansing the north and forcing anyone who identifies as unionist to move. Because we're not idiots who believe in an iron age text about bronze age myths.
And the jews weren't displaced from Israel. There were jewish groups around the Mediterranean. There was migration to those groups for better economic opportunities. When Christianity and later islam arrived the jews who were still in palestine converted. It was their descendants who were living there in 48 when a group of jews, descended from europeans, expelled them.
I would say without a doubt that Israel has the military power to ethnically cleanse the land of Palestinians. If anything the Gaza situation has shown is that the Palestinians are defenceless if attacked by Israel.
The issue for Israel is the other Arab countries and Iran that are in their vicinity. They may allow the mistreatment of the Palestinians (some of the countries anyway) but not their extermination.
