Invitations to your wedding? 🤣
Enjoy your day mate and enjoy that dram
Cheers mate. Somehow I managed to direct the missus towards whiskey and wine as a theme. 😂
Whiskey will be bridal party only, not wasting it on the masses.
I would like to put myself forward as best man so 🤣🤣🤣
I was at a wedding a few years ago, and they'd gotten a bonder to do little 1500cl whisky phials for each attendee… All single barrels, a mixture of different Scottish and Irish distilleries. I think I got a Caol ila. They had gin for all the women (Sexist or not, it went down better).
Sounds like my kind of wedding anyway!
Our wedding venue was BYO, so I brought a few bottles for the rabble...
...the really nice stuff stayed hidden though 😋
I hope the gin was served with slimline tonic for the ladies
I was at a wedding once and the favour on the table was a mini bottle of whiskey. One of those one’s with the Derry county crest on it which you can get in the Celtic Whiskey Shop. I’m guessing it was something entry level like Paddy/Powers/Bush. That was for the men…the women all got a stuffed toy! My wife, a non-whiskey drinker, was not impressed. 😅
Did they also give the ladies 15 litre phials?
Has anyone seen the new Muff Irish Whiskey out in the wild yet? I know its on their website for shipping but Tesco stock both their Gin and Vodka so not a stretch that they might get in the whiskey. But as yet, haven't seen it.
Carry Out stock it. Pretty pricey for what it is, but suppose marketing ain't cheap.

Numbers aren't my forté :P
Interesting article. I've a bottle a natterjack and it's fantastic…and I prefer smokey stuff.

Anybody know anything about this? Distinctive font.
Open it. Open it. Open it! 😜
Sorry, no info. I'm intrigued, though!
I haven’t purchased it but curious.
Fairly standard across the board. Havent had Old Elk before. Seems its new. Was after the cognac barrel aged version but oh well.
Hat-tip to whomever mentioned it in the bargain alerts thread - Paddy's Share is a beautiful drop (especially when it's bought on sale!)
I think at this stage it is a community project… in the outside world there's a lot of folks who won't look past the 'Paddy' in the title. Their loss!
Found Paddy's Share in Supervalu for €26, so got a bottle, to see how it lives up to the hype.
Bought two bottles of Powers 3 Swallows, which was €25.
They didn't have the Powers Rye, which I was hoping to get to make Old Fashioneds with.
Back in my day this thread would never have been quiet for four days. You all need to drink more whiskey!
It's the perfect time of year for whiskey. The Ardbeg Uigeadail used to get opened around this time in my house but would rarely make it to Christmas. I'm a red wine drinker these days though which isn't quite as exciting.
I hope everyone is doing well.
Back in your day it was you posting on three days out of four 🤣
Hope you're doing well too 🙂
I picked up a new bottle of John's Lane while it's on offer in Dunnes. €50 instead of €75 is an awful temptation! Had to sample it straight away to make sure it's still good. 😉
Did actually try a new one over the weekend, Red Earl Cask Strength was my final 3 drams miniature
Pretty disappointing one to finish on. It carried the strength well (65%ish, I think) so it wasn't that. Can't put my finger on it, it just... wasn't very nice 😕
Over the long weekend I opened this miniature gift set that I got a while back.
Very enjoyable to compare the different oak influences between the three whiskies.
Single malt finished in sessile (irish oak via slovenia), alba (american white), robur (slavonia luznjak) oak casks.
Not sure where Crolly source the product from, at least I assume it is sourced.

Good to hear from you, your contributions have been missed!
iirc you sometimes mixed peated Scotch with pot still Irish was it? To get things "just so" … can you recall what was your rough ratio?
It's most likely sourced from Great Northern. Nice idea, alright. Pricy, though.
Ohhh, that's nice. I got a bottle last year in Tesco for €40-something which was a steal
Likewise! I used to do a third peat versus two thirds pot still. My favourite was Redbreast 12 Cask strength with Ardbeg Uigeadail. A sherry and peat bomb that wasn't for the faint of heart. Another one was Powers Three Swallow blended with Talisker 10. This was at a time when Irish peated whiskey was limited to Connemara and Blackpitts so you needed to do a bit of experimentation. It was an excuse to play with a pipette anyway.
Cheers. Ive tried Talisker 10 with Busker Pot Still but with more Talisker in the ratio and it had levels / complexity shall we say. I must try one with your ratios for comparison.
Jack Daniels Tennessee Fire.
