Reported missing on 30th August after not being seen for 2 days. He’s 8 years old. Why would you leave it 2 days before reporting it?

Mod - Move on from the statutory rape comments please, it's not relevant
very very disturbing story, poor little man
…….
Sounds like they won't have to look too far to find the culprits.
Now I’m confused. Is the mother alive?
Mother was located in the UK without the child.
Is this the same case as the one where someone brought a child who was not theirs to a Tusla check-in meeting?
jesus this is an awful story, mental health issues can be very very scary!
Could very well be. Apparently the mother was giving Tulsa excuses as to why the child wasn’t present at meetings. RTE News were reporting at lunchtime that it’s assumed the child met a violent death some months ago .
Jesus
Meetings, plural?
Missed several apparently
If this is true Tusla is again proven to be unfit for purpose.
I'm editing this comment it's insensitive. Apologies
understandable really, when a state is simply unwilling to implement appropriate long term supports for all involved, probably wont ever change either
Tusla or social workers do not have the resources or staff to even manage a fraction of the worst cases.
It's really shocking
Mental health will obviously be used as an excuse here. Sounds like there are issues throughout the family.
Gardai believe the grandmothet cpuldnt have seen the chikd alive on the 28th of august.
A serious cover up involving a lot of people.
Terribly sad and disturbing stuff. Rip young man.
The 'may have died violently' is particularly chilling in that. :(
How can that be so?
Tusla has an annual budget of €1 billion (yes, that's a billion).

What is Roderic O' Gorman doing with this money? Shovelling it out to high price consultants, coke and hookers? There must be astronomical levels of waste going on.
Very sad story. Puts so many things on perspective. I definitely think we all need to step off the hamster wheel in this country for a bit and reflect on where we are being taken.
significant long term mental health issues would be common in highly dysfunctional families, under such conditions, its common for highly complex psychological issues such as cluster b disorders to form, traits such as pathological lying and deceit would be common with such, the virginia mccullough situation in the uk would be a similar dysfunctional family case
Are people not allowed to recover from mental breakdowns? Or are they always branded by their breakdown
What hamster wheel?
....
Was wondering how long before mental health excuses came out and the blame game on Tusla..
It’s as much legal eagles and legal stumbling blocks that allow children remain in very dangerous situations.
not really, long term supports post breakdown are rare, met a few that have had, long term supports were poor to say the least, and in some case, non existent at all, know plenty that have worked in the sector for decades, have said its always been so….
still significant stigma regarding mental health issues, probably always will be, struggle with mental health issues myself, part and parcel with my disorders, never required psychiatric care though, thank god, supports are still poor enough for me, if you dont have sufficient money to provide your own care, you re effectively goosed!
welcome to health care ireland!
….
not an excuse at all, plenty of evidence globally of serious crimes, mass murders etc linked to the ineffective care of long term mental issues
The hyper consumption, hyper competition, greed driven, dog eat dog, materialistic one.
They don't have the staff. It's a terrible job. The workload, the stress, the abuse. Al lot of social workers leave the profession.
If the person is now on the right medication and has family support- mental health system in this country is crap- why should they always be branded by their breakdown. Breakdowns can be caused by alot of things not just mental illness, stress, fatigue other issues. I'd be very annoyed if someone was blabbing on the internet about a certain case from the outside.
the sector actually requires multiple times more that per annum, to effectively deal with the issues, probably wont ever happen though, so, more messed up stories such as, will occur in the future….
