It seems like a Jewish right wing are determined to start a Middle East war and WWIII . Israel is the equivalent of a Fascist state and it’s time to call them out as such .
They have form. 1996.
Qana massacre - Wikipedia
You mean while Israel carried out attacked on Hezbollah?
Only reading what is being reported in mainstream media, does anyone have any insight on what the general population of Israel feel about what is going on, are the vast majority in favour, want more to be done, less to be done, etc.
They don’t have a mandate to intervene in any conflict as the UN never gave them one as every member was worried about them intervening in a conflict they were involved in or even in national affairs.
In thread that documents the mass slaughter of civilians including 1000s of children, that is what is sickening you?
It's a joke clearly aimed at the IDF Ghouls who claim any sort of criticism of their mass murder is anti Jewish.
Israel will keep bullying UNIFIL until they leave I think they'd like to start putting banned weaponry into practice, perhaps few cluster bombs here, a chemical weapon there. they surely don't want UNIFIL documenting these attacks.
knowing the Israelis, they'll stop at nothing and will end up dropping a few shells at UNIFIL locations. perhaps it's time to recall the boys.
There was a former defence forces officer on Radio 1 this morning. He had served in Lebanon before.
He said that the IDF do not operate under the agreed rules of engagement. They say they abide by them but they never do. For example he said while IDF are advancing into Lebanon, they shoot first in order to establish who is in the vicinity which often leads to needless civilian deaths. He cannot understand how they have gotten away with it for decades. He said an invading force should wait for enemy engagement before returning fire. They do the opposite.
A quick Google shows that this is old news.
Senior Israeli official warns of growing ‘shoot first, ask later’ culture in IDF | The Times of Israel

“There weren’t really any rules of engagement … They told us: ‘There aren’t supposed to be any civilians there. If you spot someone, shoot’. Whether the person posed a threat or not wasn’t even a question; and that makes sense to me. If you shoot someone in Gaza it’s cool, no big deal.

Some of those definitions are wrong, and the bar for Genocide is a lot higher than people being killed in war.
People are misrepresenting both the definitions, and the recent ICJ ruling.
The ICJ did not rule that the current situation in Gaza is either a Genocide or 'Plausable Genocide', though, again, this term is thrown around like confetti.
This is a recenlty retired member of the ICJ explaining the ruling, and attempting to set the record straight.
"It (ICJ) did not decide - and this is something where I'm correcting what's often said in the media... that the claim of genocide was plausible,” said the judge.
“It did emphasise in the order that there was a risk of irreparable harm to the Palestinian right to be protected from genocide. But the shorthand that often appears, which is that there's a plausible case of genocide, isn't what the court decided.”
People are being killed in war. This is tragic, but the insistance that these deaths be termed a 'Genocide' speaks to an agenda to me.
At the very least, people should park the Genocide accusations and wait for the ICJ to give a ruling, But it's very far from the slam dunk you think it is.
I realise the usual crew will completly ignore this.
The snide anti-Jewish comments from some of you on here like the above is pretty sickening tbh.
Where did he go in Israel? I presume he visited Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Tel Aviv has been in the top ten happiest cities in the world for years. I'm open to correction but I'm near certain that it was named the happiest city in the world in the not so distant past. One of my gripes with Tel Aviv is that people are very chatty. I'm an introvert, so that isn't a natural fit for me.
Edit: It's very expensive also.
Countries can't instruct their troops directly.
They can withdraw them though.
They are mandated to drive the Regime out of Lebanon whether attacked or not.
That cowardice from HQ has been well laid out, now the Regime are trying to murder UN Peace Keepers and HQ in response are sending strongly worded emails.
An organisation setup to help humanity has the opportunity to help humanity and they are doing fúck all. Absolutely useless talking shop.
Twiddling their thumbs while Hezbollah attacked Israel daily for 11 months?
Countries should just instruct their troops to defend themselves as necessary. I thought the UN peacekeepers mandate was that they couldn't fight back unless attacked anyway? They are being attacked.
Ensuring Israel don't have free regin to carry out another genocide.
This 'only democracy in the Middle East' stuff is wearing thin. There's nothing remotely normal about the place. If anything, it's like a smaller version of Russia under Putin….it certainly has little to nothing in common with countries in western Europe.
What the hell has UNIFIL been doing for the last 11 months, besides twiddling their thumbs while Hezbollah does whatever it wants with total impunity?
The vigil was held to commemorate the 7 October not support the actions in the last year.
https://www.rte.ie/news/dublin/2024/1006/1473856-israel-dublin/
The rte report even noted a participant saying
"We don't want any further casualties from Gaza or from Lebanon or from Iran. We don't want it. We just want our people to come home safely."
The support for the actions of Israel in Ireland is all online from anonymous posters. Simon Harris is just reflecting the Irish position on Israeli actions so I wouldnt class that as playing politics.
Really? Vigils were held in Dublin last week for October 7th. Supporters of Israel don't feel the need to march up and down the streets of Dublin. It doesn't achieve anything.
So, you yourself have never actually been to Israel.
Bet you lived in Gaza for years though.
It's not their fault, their mandate is clear, the cowardice is coming from HQ.
They'll become an international embarrassment if they withdraw.
Allowing them to be sitting ducks as the Regime tries to murder them is the embarrassment.
Countries withdrawing their troops stating such would give a powerful message to the UN that they are nothing more than a taking shop.
Who are you talking about?
I've not said anything about Irish peacekeepers thus far, and I've been talking about both the genocide and the holocaust, but that hardly means I'm avoiding it or "deflecting" with the former topics.
I don't know what Israel is thinking regards the peacekeepers. Do I endorse Israel shooting at Peacekeepers, obviously not.
If an Irish peacekeeper is killed I most certainly wouldn't be praising, supporting or justifying that.
Whats the point of UN peacekeepers if they just tuck tail and run whenever they attacked? They'll become an international embarrassment if they withdraw.
Harris and Co reflect the views of all the main political parties in Ireland's and the people here who have publicly protested against Israels actions. They are not just their own views. The only voices I have encountered supporting Israelis actions this last year are anonymous people posting online.
No, why?
RTE news : Seán Rooney family 'concerned' by lack of UN engagement
Opps , I should not have posted this, as Sean Rooney RIP , was NOT killed by Israeli forces ..... how stupid of me ..... 🙄
http://www.rte.ie/news/ireland/2024/1011/1474947-sean-rooney/
are you posting from Tel Aviv?
Harris & Co. are reflecting their own views, first and foremost, along with a very loud minority. It's also a really nice distraction from the children's hospital, security hut, bike shed ….. Barely a mention of stuff like the below in the news.
https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/bam-submitted-25m-invoice-for-work-on-new-childrens-hospital-that-cost-under-200000-stephen-donnelly-says/a1606526360.html
That's incorrect, although it does get bandied about a lot.
According to the Convention, genocide is a crime that can take place both in time of war as well as in time of peace.
The definition contained in Article II of the Convention describes genocide as a crime committed with the intent to destroy a national, ethnic, racial or religious group, in whole or in part.
It does not include political groups or so called “cultural genocide”.
Harris and Co are just reflecting irish views on the conflict, something you do not.
No we wouldn't. We'd discuss it. Last I checked all Irish troops were safe and well, which is great to hear. I'm not going to get sucked into Harris & Co playing politics.
Every israeli accusation is an admission.
