Well, the answer is 6 times. Mad, you think? Well, Gene Ireland now have a test bull called CAVELANDS TIMBO. Timbo is sired by Ivor, but his grand-sire is by Ampertaine Foreman. Foreman has Cannon a further 3 times in his pedigree, so this new test bull has Cannon 9 times in his pedigree.
Now, I also have cows with Cannon in their breeding, so if I use this test bull on them I can get the number up to 10.

I see Rolex (LM8625) calving difficulty is gone to 7.5% on cows.
I was watching the in-calf heifers sale in Tuam last night and I'm surprised that a few of the blues had Rolex on them particularly as he has the NT gene. Seems very risky
What where the prices like seemed to be some great heifers in fairness

have a few cows to AI in the next few weeks was looking at the limousin bulls as If I get heifers I would like the option to keep them for myself. Was thinking of using some keltic Rembrandt I know some of you had stock off him and I think overall everyone was happy? Also anyone got opinions on rigby and Rolex?
I’ve Rembrandt chosen myself. The stars are going to be massive in another year or two and he seems to be breeding well so he’s worth a gamble for me anyway.

I've used Keltic Rembrandt LM8259. Lovely quiet calves with a bit of style. He'll be a super bull if he turns out to be good for milk and fertility. I've one heifer weanling here by Ardlea Rigby which is the quietest calf I have this year. Puzzled by his one star for docility. Ardlea Rolex is hard calving at 7.5% proven, so that would put me off. His myostatin is also NT821/F94L.
I also got some SHANNON SAMURAI LM9869 from gene Ireland (€7 each). He's Neymar x Eravelle x Commander. I've used Neymar and liked his calves. The Shannon herd in Kerry breed good functional type animals.
Have a spring bunch here 90% Rembrandt & Rigby. Still have access to cows, on meal 10 days and are creeping out with the fine weather. Very happy with both as I was loosing size in my Lims and have great hopes of getting it back!!
As a comparison red lad is Rembrandt, goldie is Rugby.
As Patsy says, if he can only bring milk, I think he'll be some animal.

Would you think that the Rigby cattle are more stylish than Rembrandt? If I use him I would be hoping tp keep the heifers but at the same time if I get bulls I would like to have stylish weanlings
Great batch of calves your right it is very hard to get bulls with size and power anymore so its a great benefit. There great ended calves wait until they get stuck into that creep they will be serious weanlings
Rigby seems to have more length, but I think Rembrandt would make better suckler cows, if I had to pick from the two. Rembrandt would breed slightly smaller frames.
Rembrandt has a shorter gestation for his daughters too.

Ya, you could try him on a few of the bigger cows first. He's 4.6% proven for calving, so slightly above average.
first calf dropped from Grenache (LM4351) and he is mad a march hare. From 12 hours old he is up the minute I enter the field and looking and running.
Have 5 or 6 in calf in the hope of a nice replacement from a few of my quiet cows. First one not boding well.
He will settle down over the winter if he was a may born calf out in the field over the summer I would say best of luck handling him :)
every calf born outside I make a point of handling them lying down a couple of times when they are soft and dopey….not this lad.
