Starting a thread for 2025 gigs as they'll likely start rolling in.
I'll arbitrarily throw in Rob Beckett playing the Olympia on the 26th September 2025 which went on sale today.
Chalk playing Whelans in April.
The promo blurb describes them fairly accurately: "Chalk are IDLES meets Daniel Avery, Death Grips meets Bicep - techno-infused industrial punk. Closing their trilogy of EPs with the aptly titled “Conditions III”, Chalk pull on the visual and audio influences of their former releases, delivering on their promises of tension, techno and high-octane guitar rock. Interwoven soundscapes of industrial noise, rapturous techno and guitar-punk sees the Belfast trio at their most vibrant, euphoric and ambitious."
Marquee is now bottom of the barrel central. down to very occasional midweek slots for rare decent acts who want to fill quieter mid week gigs. The acts are predominantly aligned to older people who have disposable income and will go to a local gig.
Other than that, its the same oul shite year after year,: Coronas, Christy, Tommy Tiernan allthough i could see Damien Rice playing there next year, he’s back touring from next year, only Asia dates announced at the moment, he last played Marquee in 2015, a totally solo gig.
they had bicep, Blk and sugababes aimed for younger audience this year. decent acts will either not sell 5000 tickets in cork or won’t accept the fee that works for a venue that size.
Megadeth played there 4-5 years ago …..
It's a shame. They've had some great acts play there over the years but it really has gone down hill in recent times.

Disturbed announced The Sickness 25th anniversary for US/NA with UK/European dates coming soon. Would be great if we got a date here but probably gonna skip us.

Superb at EP in August.
Love 'em but that's kinda word salad bumph from their PR team. I think they could do with an extra guitarist to give them an extra lift but they're an impressive lot and highly recommended. Seen them do two support slots and better than the main act each time. Also excellent at EP.

That's what I'm hoping too. I really don't want to have to go to the 3Arena to see them on this run.
EDIT: are you sure about fifth visit? I'm only remembering two gigs at the airport plus Leisureland in 2023. Even the airport gigs should probably be counted as 1.5 rather than 2 gigs as bad weather cut short the 2019 gig. The last one I remember before that is Leisureland in 2018, which if we're talking about a GIAF 2025 appearance, will have been more than 6 years ago.
Props to Eldridge though, last bit of new music was 34 years ago and he's still riding along on it.

Yep, that's a goodie, very retro like Forest Fest but more challenging. I note that there's a now an all-female band named Girl Band. The Gilla crew must be delighted. I foresee a co-headlining tour.
You're absolutely right. The first Leisureland gig was in December 2018 so it'd be 5 visits in 7 years. I wan't thinking of any GIAF set being 9 months ahead. Doh!
And yeah, that first airport gig was a mess. The Stunning alway got washed off the stage, they weren't lost on the irony of Brewing Up a Storm. I think the Waterboys did 4 tracks and just gave up, wind and rain from every direction and they had to shut down the electricity. Recent gig there was superb I though, best I've seen them in more than a decade. As tight and relaxed as I've ever seen them and the current incarnation obviously love playing together.
I noticed that band a few weeks back, thought they'd gone back to the old name. Saw one pic and was like "Nope". Could have one stage banner between the 2 on that tour though, very handy
Been back together since 2002, even before the Pixies return. I don't think they play together that much though I caught them at Islington Assembly Hall in 2014. Tanya was the support act.
Last album was 4 years ago and long overdue a visit to this island. Nearly 15 years. C'mon Kristin, make it happen.
Yeah, I know they did sporadic gigs but not since pre covid I don't think. I've seen Kristen a couple of times but never Throwing Muses. Listened to University and the Real Ramona there today after seeing them on that bill. Just fantastic stuff.
Think this might be the first time I've forgotten about tickets going on sale, and they sold out 😕
Delighted they're so popular though, and I'm sure I'll pick up a spare nearer the time

Sisters are an odd band live. Andy just hangs about on stage while hired guns sing unreleased songs. Interesting line-up though.
