I don't think they are killing off LFP, necessarily, it's more of a situation driven by taxes and import duties. LFP batteries come from china.
Tesla Y long range rwd is 43k in some goes, France for instance, so more room for drops compared to 48k here?

Comparisons between other countries whilst being tempting is meaningless, as others have said because of different VAT Rates, VRT etc.
The reason why Model 3 is cheaper here as opposed to the Y is because of Irish VRT rates, which exempt EV's up to a level of 40K when VRT clicks in, so a basic Model 3 has almost no VRT (€123)
Heading to Dublin airport next week from cork. Will be my furthest drive to date, heading up early so looking for any advice for folks who’ve done similar trips. I’ll be stopping to top up the car, so any insight on how I should plan the route would be great. I’ve the standard MY RWD for context!
Would the SC in Ballacolla/Manor Stone not be the obvious choice ?

yeah the SC in Manorstone was my first thought too. Not as familiar with any of the better charging spots north of that. I’ll take a look at that list posted above too! Hoping to arrive with a semi decent charge level so I can make it a good bit down the road before stopping on the return
North of that you have portlaoise plaza, Applegreen midway, junction 14, Applegreen millennium park naas and even a new maxol hub just off junction 12. I'm probably missing one or two along the N7.
In short you have loads of options along the M8/M7 route.
There's ionity Kill north & south and 2 double Applegreen chargers on the N7southbound near Rathcoole. There are around 6-8 Ac chargers in Block C on level 1 just left of the up ramp.
At motorway speeds you'll likely arrive at the airport with 10-15% left depending on the day that's in it. I assume you don't want to stop on the way to Dublin as your time is more precious then, so your best bet is a splash at the airport blue car park or at Blanchardstown. Likely you could fill up entirely at Blanchardstown and pop into Currys while you're doing it. The downside is it's not as cheap as Tesla chargers, but as a once off who cares?

I did West Cork to Co Louth a couple of months ago in M3 highland.
Unless you are leaving your car in the airport for a few weeks and want Sentry on (and it will automatically switch off at 20% anyway), you only need a stop in Ballacolla on the way up and one on the way back.
Put Ballacolla into the car as your destination and it will pre-condition the battery for a fast charge as well as tell you how many stalls are free. It's Tesla only so we didn't have a wait on the way down or the way back; on the August BH weekend.
In the time that it took to run into the toilet and then grab a coffee, the charge was almost complete.
If you are really intent on leaving Dublin Airport with close to 100% for a non-stop return drive, the suggestions above are excellent.
I'd be a +1 that you use Manor stone on the way up and again on the way down. Its 240km to go from there to the airport and back to Manorstone so just make sure you have 300km+ on the clock when you leave manorstone and then a quick topup again in manorstone on the way home.
I wouldnt be messing around with the non-Tesla charging network on an airport run when you are watching time. You are almost certainly going to get straight onto a charger in Manorstone.
Are you just dropping at the airport or parking up for a few days/weeks? If you are parking up for a few weeks you might need to turn off sentry mode as it will drain the battery and you might not make manorstone then on the way home.
+1 on manor stone then charge to 100%. Should be enough to get to manor stone on the way back. Have the same car and have don’t return trip to cork Dublin cork many times.
Absolutely no need to go to 100% in Ballacolla. 15 minute stop on the way up and the same on the back.
If leaving at the airport....just back off 2.5week hols, M3 lost 1% SOC so not an issue (sentry off obviously)

Anyone had any issues with the audio in the Model Y?
Picked up my new one last week - not sure if it was always like this from the start or if it changed, but the rear and side speakers are not working at all, only the speakers at the front under the windscreen. No bass at all either. Adjusting the balance fully to the rear results in silence.
Restarting the software by pressing the two scroll wheels does nothing. Any ideas? Or just create a service request? pretty disappointing for a brand new car.
Sounds like a wiring loom was not connected, I'd raise a ticket, easy fix if so

Agreed, they're amazing. The new headlights on the Model 3 Highland are a considerable downgrade. I hope they don't use the same headlight units for the Model Y refresh.

yes it has adaptive matrix headlights, however, Teslas changed the headlight unit which they used in the older M3 and current MY. It's a sleeker looking headlight unit but the strength and spread of light in the newer headlight unit in M3H is considerably worse.
Has anyone used Sandyford Tyre Centre for new tyres?
I used them a couple of times for previous cars as I used to live down the road from there. First time they didn't balance the tyres and I had to go back to them to get this done. Second time I ordered tyres online to be delivered to and fitted there, they weren't happy about this at all (despite the fact they were listed as a fitting partner on this site) but did fit them for me begrudgingly.
Sounds like a place best avoided.
