First official look. More to come on October 4.
Got the latest QPR beta for Android 16 this morning. The new material UI is lovely. Tighter notifications, more haptics, updated UI elements and extra animations. It's the biggest change to the UI in a long time…
Looks like €150 is about it, Vodafone are quoting that with a 10% discount to €135.
At €250 you'd be best off getting a new 9a for €400 from Three or Vodafone and claim the free Fitbit. Screen on the 9a has been increased in size to use the same part as the 9 and 9pro, phone itself is slightly bigger than those due to thicker bezels though.
delete please - wrong forum: i managed to smash the sccreen on my pixel 8a - ffs. I am being quoted €150 / 200 and middletonIT quoted 250 for a new screen. The phone cost me €300 in Three store. surely everyone I talk to is trying to shaft me - i though a new screen was no more that 70 or 80 euros? Can any one recemmend somewhere that is more reasonable? Thx
I'd pay the extra 60 for the 256,worth it long term. Photos don't take up much space it's more if you record or download a lot of video. Was hoping they would have better offer on the 9 but this is tempting. I have a 5% off code also and an old 3a I can trade which would make the a 256 8 Pro €552 landed. That's nearly too tempting to pass up. I just know as soon as this offer is over there will be an offer on the 9 Pro though!
Google store is offering a €300 discount on the Pixel 8 Pro until 3/12
128GB : €599
256GB : €659
512GB : €799
256GB seems best value but I wonder is it worth it going for the 512GB. Do the photos quickly take up space?
dropped my 8 pro in the gym🤦♀️
Back to apple as it would have taken e300 plus to fix my 8 pro
In fairness ‘twas a great phone
Pictures superb
But I’ve dropped it loads of times, damage done,
Screen bleed 🩸 etc,
Despite having a good case on it
Anyone buying a new Pixel on the Google Store to take advantage of the Trade-in prices - see my timeline and experience in this post in the P9 thread.
Haven't noticed much difference after installing 15. Checking for app updates seems to be slower. There's an option for turning Bluetooth on automatically tomorrow.
Blessing
Instagram not working properly since the update. 😩
The only new feature I've seen is the ability to have a secret locker for sensitive apps etc. Even at that I'd hesitate to call that new as it's been available for quite a while on most non stock variants of Android.
Yup I thought the same, couldn't see any difference at all.
I have a 6 Pro and updated to 15 yesterday, can't notice a single difference. Didn't even get a new features tour like you normally would, was like any other minor monthly update except the 14 changed to a 15. I read there was a charging cap coming with Android 15 but seems that's now coming in a later feature drop.
Android 15 now available. I didn't get a notification but when I went to check for a system update it was available.
Make sure warranty is covered over here. I don't think it is.
My 5G is spot on(!eir)
Any issues to be aware of if buying a Pixel 8 in the USA and using in Ireland/EU? Are there still issues with 4G/5G bands or other differences that may be important?
Go into app battery usage and turn on allow background usage for the Ring app. This allows the app to run while locked.
They're switched on. It's weird, i get them for ring sometimes. Other times the doorbell goes but i get nothing on the phone. 5 minutes later i pick up the phone and unlock it and then I get the doorbell on the phone. Football app just doesn't work. Might uninstall them and reinstall
Go to Settings and search for Notifications. Under Privacy you'll see Notifications Permissions Manager.
In there you can see the individual app settings for notifications.
Anyone have notification problems? I have a p8pro and for some reason ring doorbell doesn't notify until i pick up my phone and unlock it, fotmob (football scores app) notifications don't seem to work at all. Both worked fine on the old phone
So I decided to return the P8 Pro (even thought it was a great price) for a full refund.
Trading in my P7 on the P9 Pro XL after being offered €433 - not bad considering I bought it in Sep 23 for €519.
I saw that too, the trade in prices have increased significantly.
With the addition of the Buds Pro 2 worth 250 thrown in it makes for a great offer (first in a long time from Google)
Google Store is offering great trade in prices on Pixels at the moment.
I picked up the P8 Pro last week for €679.20. Being offered €732 as trade in price on a P9 Pro XL for €1219 which includes free Pixel Buds Pro 2. Tempting as I still have a P7 to sell.
I got it replaced quickly after I posted this from Amazon and the new one has been fine ever since. The pink seemed to disappear before I sent it back so not sure if it was a software issue but happy to have it replaced anyway
How did this turn out (or anyone else with pink lines/green areas on the screen)? Google have acknowledged an issue and have extended the warranty for these devices:
https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/15009955?hl=en
My device has started with the intermittent pink line. I've been approved for an RMA but want to get a picture of it occurring to send with the device in the event of any disputes.
Google store sale on at least 20% off (or more)
P8 Pro - €679.20
P8 - €547.20
Honestly I loved the apple camera, but id the 7 Pro aswell as the 12 pro max
And currently the 8 pro
No contest
Google wins hands down.
Climbed our highest mountain on Sat and the pics I got were brilliant, those with me were amazed at the quality,
Despite the rain,wind etc
I agree, the price is initially what put me off in January with the Google Pixel 8/8Pro. They've come down since then but still expensive. I will try Refurbed when I am ready to buy. The main thing with me is the camera.
